Slow cold start

I tried to search these forums for my topic, without any luck (I also did not try very hard). My wife's X70 has been having really slow cold starts for weeks now. The car does start, but it does feel like it will not one of these days. It is at the dealer now getting serviced. They had thought that it was a bad grounding strap, then maybe the fuel pump, now they are not sure. Has anyone else encountered this?

Yes, I had the same issue until one day the car didnt want to turn over anymore.

Had to get the car towed back home and went to work on the starter. Prior to changing the starter I had checked the battery and it was 100%. No issue there.

The starter is $280 at the dealer and they make you turn in the old one. I did this DIY, and it was a difficult job. Unless you feel comfortable in the engine bay I wouldn't do it.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks e70msportmia the battery was replaced about a year ago. I'll check on the starter.

If you can post some more info that would be great. Does starter replacement require intake manifold removal on 3.0 X5?

Thanks

I would have to leave the answer to that question to e70msportmia as I am completely lost when it comes to under the hood.

That is correct... You have to remove the intake manifold. Its literally in the middle of the engine tucked away.

Well, I got a confusing explaination today from my SA. It is not the starter and is also not the fuel pump. Apparently there is a engine priming pump that they think is the problem and to replace it would cost $1750. I decided to continue to deal with the slow cold starts for now as I am not convinced what the problem really is.
