I think it's easy enough to swap the sills - just a direct replacement.
I have the running boards on my X6 and am getting them removed soon as I prefer the look without. Check this post here for pictures and some details: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=301685

Thank you "Igorbmwx6", but the X6M have the same body as the X6? The X6M is not more larger than the no-M ?

LastLong, I added 2 pics below showing the running boards of the X6, got a friend at the dealer, he is a service guy and has once told me that he has never seen a single owner getting off stepping on the boards and vice versa.. These things are really functional on the Land Rovers from my experience but not really on the X5 or X6. Good looks?? Well, I wouldn't mind if they were absent to tell the truth..

I have them on mine. My wife loves them as there are no grab handles on the X6.
I am sure that the X6M body and the regular X6 body are basically the same. its just the back valance, exhausts and side vents that are different....? |

I have have an X6M and also like the look of the footbed. It looks like the footbed is wider than what I see on my car from the above pics. Mine seems to stick out just enough to get scraped by my shoes but not to use.

I'm too initially was looking for a footboard option for the X6M and found none.
I guess BMW doesn't deem a footboard option go with the overall look of the X6M. Lately, I did notice scrape marks on the sills from getting in and out of the vehicle....this is the main reason I am looking for a footboard option. Looking back...I guess I should have done as someone else had recommended and that's to put a clear protection film on the side sills. |

I'm pretty sure the running boards will not work on the M/msport equipped cars. The fender flares are different and won't work with the running boards

I've just bought some sills without the foot boards.
In have a non M vehicle, so hopefully they will swap straight out. Will get some details up once they arrive and are painted up
