Performance "Side Skirts" for X6M

Hi - I've been looking at pictures of the fairly new BMW Performance "side skirts" for the X6M. I have an Alpine White 2012 and am wondering if anyone on the board has had them installed. Would like to hear feedback on quality, personal opinions on looks, and value for dollars spent.

The MSRP is about $800 USD (some dealers will discount these parts) for the pair and installation / painting can run close to $1000 depending on the body shop. I like the look, but have only seen pictures of X6s at car shows (some with the multicolor striping, etc.) that make it difficult to gauge how the skirts may look on regular X6Ms.

I wonder if I will be the first in the world to buy these? They're likely purely costmetic, functionally useless.
