It's just pipe! Lol

There's actually a set on Google search that's a tad cheaper than that!

I prefer my downpipes having a flex section, but I may be overly anal about that.

That's a valid argument!

One thing I've never seen when reading these forums, is when the cel is trigger for NO cat in place does the engine detune itself at all?

I noticed no decline whatsoever on CEL - just an annoying light. You can tune it out, JB4 constant code kill it, manually code kill it via carly or some other OBD reader, or use spark plug de-foulers plumbed inline to simulate cleaner air.

wish I would have done the latter rather than buying the JB4....

It is a pretty standard part made for older cars that had issues like that. You have to stack two of them on top of each other then bore the first one out. However they also made premade O2 sensor "cat simulators" https://www.ebay.com/i/252682470967?chn=ps&dispItem=1
which is the same thing save all the labor of doing it yourself. However on these RM downpipes it looks like the spacing for the post cat O2 sensor bung simulates what a spark plug defouler/cat simulator would do. I am honestly highly tempted to get a set as I have been waiting for a while for them to get to this pricepoint.

I reached out to them a while back and they said they should fit or you can return them (as long as they aren't damaged). Haven't gotten around to it yet myself though.

My experience is with the "comparable" Racing Dynamics DPs on my 2010 X5M.
While I saved on the cost of the pipes compared to alternatives, I paid an indy shop a bunch more to address fitment issues on the pipes and O2 sensor bungs. (Should be able to find related thread links via my user name for details)

If you are especially handy, they are probably good to consider. If you want a hassle free install, I'd suggest another manufacturer.

Good luck!

Thank you! I kind of figured this was case being it’s showing as compatible with numerous platforms.

What's the "comparable" mean? Did you use these pipes or something else?

I just install my AR dp with spark defouler. So I’m hoping
the cel don’t come on. I drove 50miles going home after the install and no
cel light yet. So I hope the defouler trick worked

I used the Racing Dynamics ones for the S63 X5M engine, but don't know if the design is any different than the N63 part. They were only about $500. The ones I saw from Active Autowerks and Turner were $1500 (and other similar trustworthy sources). Figured $1000 savings would cover plenty of extra labour costs to make the RD ones fit/work right.

All seems to be going well now using a Velos tune.

Do you have a tune that removes the CEL or are you just using defoulers? I thought defoulers only worked with the older BMWs

I have a tune but I’m using the defoulers to help with the cel light not turning on. I have a 2013

Got pics of the defoulers?

Sure the tune is not turning it off, I've tried a couple and nothing has worked when running without cats except tuning to remove CEL.
