CIC replacement question
Hi everyone,
I recently had a complete CIC failure in my 2010 x5 the dealership informed me I would have to replace the entire unit. Instead of paying the 1800 USD price tag on that repair, I opted to find a used on eBay. Today I received the replacement used CIC in the mail and installed it. The new one "works" however the navigation option word is grayed out (not in color) and I cannot click on it, also I cannot hear any music or sound with the radio or cd. As for external devices, it does not recognize my iPhone or iPod and either says "unsupported" or just does not recognize it. This is happening when connected to both the glove box USB and the middle dash USB. The vendor did tell me that I may need to have the replacement CIC programmed to my car, my question is, is this the problem? If what is the ballpark cost to have this done at the dealership? Thanks BigSkulk |

Dealership is the LAST place to go for anything. There are BMW coding forums or find a BMW indy who knows how to code.

Agreed about the dealership, that being said I am trying to figure out if my issues is a simple coding issue or if there is a compatibility issue between the new CIC and my car or problem with the CIC I bought, I have a warranty on the CIC unit from the eBay vendor so I would like to return the unit if its unfixable.
