Painted and replaced front grilles to black on the X6

Hey guys,

So I've had my x6 5.0i for a few weeks now and I've already painted and replaced all my front grilles and deleted the license plate. What do you think!?

i've just order an X6 thats exactly the same colour as yours, and painting the mesh is the first mod i'll be doing - thanks for the photos.

What about painting the under side skid plate as well?

I actually didn't paint the mesh BMW sells those two center ones fairly cheaply. The hardest part was the installation. The only ones I painted were the fog lamps ones. I'm undecided about the skid plate you barely see it so I dont know if I want to deal with it.

how easy was the fog light trim to remove? does it just pull off or do you need to remove the entire mesh assembly first then separate the trim from the mesh?

I ordered up a set of the black grilles you mentioned, so these should be with me shortly - the trim that is anoying me most (and i've only had the car three days) is the wheel arch and side sills - i hate these being black so i'm thinking of getting these sprayed to match the colour of the car. Anyone one else already painted those parts?

You literally just have to stick your fingers in the mesh and pull it out, the whole thing just snaps in and out. Then the silver part snaps on and off as well, very easy.

I was thinking the same thing but those are a little more complicated to get off. I was thinking of just buying the m sport package and just installing that instead vs trying to get everything painted on this one. Make sure you have a good shop paint those as well, I own a body shop and I know it's a pain to paint those textured painted peices without them starting to peel and chip. Make sure they put some kind of primer first then paint so it grabs.

No problem! That's an awesome color combo. Good choice swapping out for black grilles.

what did you use to paint the bit around the fog lamps and how long did it take once removed?
