Snow

Hate shoveling it. I've considered buying a snowblower, but this storm is the first this year that would have been worthy of a snowblower. Seems a waste to pay $700 give or take for a snowblower that will just take up valuable garage space for 360 out of 365 days.

But oh my aching back......

Stop crying

I want a nice 2 feet or something good. So far we haven't had more than 5-8" at a time.

Shoveling 2 feet would suck ass though

Yeah, friends in MA would be laughing at my complaints about less than a foot of snow. They're shoveling snow off their roofs. At least I don't have to deal with that.

We just had to run the cat to the vet here in town. We saw a town snowplow running blade down on mostly clear pavement just pushing the edge back. He got to a right turn lane that had not been plowed and raised his blade, driving through the 8" or 9" inches of snow there. When he got to the intersection where the road was clear again, he dropped his blade and continued on around the corner. I was like, "WTF?"

I would gladly do that if our neighborhood had kids old enough. The only two kids in our neighborhood live across the street and they're early grade school. Too young for shoveling. My neighborhood is quite small (10 or so houses) and mostly older folks.

One of these years I'll invest in a snowblower. All it will take is one bad winter and I'll be forking over the dough.

Also sounds like on that day you'll be snow-blowing 10 houses, not 1.

Same here! Although the kids across the street are older, they help their dad and they're done. But there are no other kids on my street of age. In the 10 years I've lived here, only one time did a couple of kids knock on the door, and I was more than happy to let them do it.
Every time it snows I ask myself, "where are the kids? Don't any of them want to make some money?"

That was my Dad. My brothers and I bought him a snow blower so we wouldn't have to shovel the 6 car driveway. Dad loved snowblowing so much he'd do our driveway and then the neighbor's.

Weird weather. They're not seeing a decent snowpack in the Rockies here either. That's just going to make the drought conditions worse this summer.

How about buying a snowblower, then charging your neighbors to do their houses as well? You'll recover some of your costs that way!

Had about a half of an inch of ice and a half an inch of sleet compacted last week, but besides that I haven't seen more than a few snowflakes this year.

All our snow melted over the weekend. Back to boring, cold and rainy days.

Lots of snow melt yesterday but still have over a foot on the lawn. Finally got around to chopping up the giant iceberg at the end of my driveway.

Just barely hitting positive single digit temps outside. Currently about 4F with a -6F windchill. Saw a kid walking across campus in a short sleeve t-shirt. I have to constantly remind myself that this is an institute of higher learning.

Just give in and buy a snow blower. My dad bought an Ariens with electric start. It's a BEAST and actually a lot of fun to use.

I've been rocking my Ariens 26" for three years and it kicks ass. It actually started losing chucking power last storm so I did a little troubleshooting and ten minutes and one belt tensioner adjustment later it was back to throwing snow like 25 feet. A+

I shoveled last 10 years thinking, I would get the blower if it snows little more and finally took a plunge and got one this year. Man, what a difference. I now shovel out entire neighborhood just for fun! Mine is electric steering wheel and motored wheels and damn it's so fun to shovel at night with headlights on. But then, you are right, it is so big and took a BIG portion in my garage now. I need to build a shed now to just store it in.

There are machines that move snow for you? Wonders never cease.

At the cabin, I knock down the mud/ice wall that the plows leave at the top of the drive so we can get the ATVs out onto the road. If the TV isn't working, I'll go out and finish the next 10-15 feet to get off the incline and onto the bridge.

Sn....nnnnn...o...www? What is that? I've been alive for 29 years and don't remember seeing the stuff once! My dad told me I've been somewhere snowy when I was 3, but... F**k if I remember anything from that age!

It was snowing pretty good on my way into work this morning. Turned DTC off and had a bit of fun. Everyone else was driving 30mph under the fucking speed limit. Shit is fucking ridiculous. Press the fucking gas pedal, it doesn't hurt.
