Did they have to remove the whole center console to wrap the trim?

No cracks on the parts you're describing and showing in your photos, but did have most of the trim replaced on mine under warranty. Steering wheels buttons, door grabs, shifter itself, the surround trim piece, and the iDrive assembly.

I also noticed the button to lower and higher the temperature speeds is slightly starting to fade along with the ''P'' to put it in park

PAX5 - is your interior Oyster?
No, my interior is Nappa, black leather ... I borrowed these pics from the internet because I dig the look. Will be my next project ...

Mine is faded, but because you cannot just replace the button, they did not replace that under warranty.

Yup. I had cracks in center console and driver's door wood.

Replaced under warranty.

40K miles.

wow... my warranty is expired... however I tried to get this replaced when my warranty was active... BMW should have this on record... now that I have proof through this forum that others have had the wood replaced... I am going to go at them again.

Seems like a lot of door trim damage is happening to a majority of people...my door wood trim looks perfect(for now)...which shop replaced it BMW?

Our left centre console had a hairline crack on the bamboo trim. Was barely recognizable.

Replaced under warranty.

It was Westmont Body Werks. Someone backed into my x5 in a parking lot, so they did the body works as well. I was sure the crack wasn't there before the accident but I have no way of proving it.

Had my '11 x5 50 in for service today. Those trim pieces are not covered by CPO warranty. Oh well.

Anything further on this? Mine is cracked in multiple locations. Bummer they don't cover it under CPO.

Correct, not under CPO. Only under factory warranty.
