Active Ventilated Seat Package - is it really worth it?

Hello,

I've read in posts that people wear by this option. But I'm just wondering is it really worth the extra money? The Active Ventilated Seat Package is $1,900 but it requires you to also pay for Perforated Full Merino Leather at $3,800, so all inclusive this "upgraded seat" option is $5,700 extra! I'm talking about the X5M.

I live in San Diego, so I really don't need the heated/cooled seat feature like probably those in other areas of the country with harsh winters and humid summers.

If the standard seats in the X5M are like the standard seats in my '02 M3, I think I would be just fine. But I wanted to hear from you all, why is it worth paying $5,700 extra for the "upgraded seats"?

Thanks!

My wife's X5 has the active seat and she is not a fan. She feels molested when the seat massages her bottom. The cooled seats is a wait and see as truck has not gone through a summer. I felt the active seat was valuable on long trips, it prevent numbness from sitting on those trips. Looking back the money would have been better spent on another option.

I love it, but doubt I'd spring for it in San Diego. In the NE with the humid summers, it's worth every penny to now show up to a meeting dripping wet

I have both on my X5M and although I live in OC, I use both every day, especially the heated seats & steering wheel.

The activated seat when on long drives comes in handy as well.

The Premium Seats + Active Ventilated are by far and away the best options I put on my X5d. The comfort and quality (get lots of comments from other X5 owners about that) of the upgraded leather is fantastic and I've been mixing the cool and heat coming back from a day on the mountain (the heat is a little too much by itself). It was 2 degrees here last weekend and I had the cooling seats on driving home from a snowboarding trip - these things are great all year round

I have also made some pretty long drives and the "ass-massager" does seem to help. It does give the impression you've stepped out of the car for a short walk after you've run the massager for a few mins. Other than that, it is kind of worthless and feels weird.

I don't know if heated seats are only available with the active ventilated seats but I don't think the cooling and butt massager function is worth it. The heating is a must but the rest of the gadgets are useless.

Not worth it. Save the money!

The cooled seats is not really that useful IMHO. The massage function only massages the bottom and not the back. Really waste of money for massage and cooled seats.

You need to get the active ventilated seat pkg in order to get the 20 way adjustable seat btw. Otherwise ur stuck with the basic seat on a X5M which IMO blows.. I had to spring co it since I got used to it on my B7
