Here is my '17 F31 M Sport (non-adaptive suspension)...

Lowered on Eibach Pro Kit
Michelin PS4s Front: 235/40 Rear: 265/35
(I wanted to use the 275/35 that came with the rear wheels but it was tough to find 245/40 for the fronts. Plus, I was worried it would rub...which in the end, it probably wouldn't)
No spacers. A little poke but overall I love the look.
No rub. ~2 finger gap in the rears and 1.5 finger gap in the front.

F30 437m quick fitment reference

I posted this on another thread and thought I'd share here too in case it helps anyone, and everything below is also true of this thread!

Ok, so this is the third or fourth time I've gone through this entire thread, and I LOVE how these wheels look on the F30, and am definitely going this direction thanks to all your cars here that I've seen, they all look so good!

For anyone jumping to the end, and just reading this post, here are my thoughts for an F30, mildly lowered (I've got H&R sport springs), as I've been looking for:

Only my opinion -

Best fitment I'd recommend:
245/35/19 Front and 265/35/19 Rear

Followed by:
235/40/19 Front and 265/35/19 Rear
235/35/19 Front and 265/30/19 Rear
225/40/19 Front and 255/35/19 Rear

Again, these are only my opinions for anyone looking for a quick answer on what fits without rubbing on a mildly lowered F30, from what I've gathered from this amazing thread!

245/35/19 and 265/35/19 here. PS4S and lowered on H&R Sport. Zero rubbing over the last 4 years.

I would only suggest 235/40 fronts if your car is xDrive. 245/35 has a better profile match with the 265/35 rears!

no, for x-drive transfer case, front and rear diameters should be equal as possible, up to a 1.2% difference. 1% is most typically used.

These are the recommended combos for xdrives...

235/40/19(26.4) & 265/35/19(26.3) best

245/35/19(25.8) & 285/30/19(25.7) will increase gaps. lowering recommended, but not more than 40mm for x-drive front axles.

255/35/19(26.0) & 265/35/19(26.3) due to low offset, front will have light poke and might graze fender while turning at or near full lock, depending on tire girth

225/40/19 & 255/35/19 not recommended due to highly stretched fitment

245/40/19(26.7") @ ET29 is likely to rub fenderwell liner while turning so 245/40/19 & 275/35/19 is omitted.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. 235/40/19 and 265/35/19 it is!

Hi guys, new to the site and read every page of this post and still after an answer on suitable wheel/tyre size for my car.

I've seen a great offer online for some OEM 437Ms and would love to buy them for my 435d X-Drive but the tyre size is confusing me.

Everything I've read here seems to state that the tyre wall from front to rear goes down (40 to 35, etc). However, the wheels that are for sale are as follows

BMW M4 - M3 GENUINE ALLOY WHEELS in excellent condition only a couple of chips on one wheel TPMS fitted 3 michelin pilot sport 1 new rear avanti tyre FRONT 255-30-19 REAR 275-35-19.

The wheels seem in really good condition for the price so the question I have is that with my stock MSport suspension (not planning on lowering), will these fit and why would the tyre wall be lower for the front?. Just getting myself confused with all this "must be below 1%" stuff.

I'm basically concerned about rubbing the suspension struts or body itself as don't want the hassle of it all but these tyres look so amazing on the car that I'd love to buy them.

Any help is really appreciated and sorry to go over old ground.

The "30" and "35" refer to the aspect ratio of the tire. That ratio is a percentage of sidewall height compared to the section width. Its all math. Using those numbers and the rim diameter you can calculate the outer diameter of the tire. That OD is where it needs to be within 1%. So one revolution of the front wheel is essentially the same as the rear wheel. When they get off too much, the transfer case has to cope with slip or fail.

If you dont feel like doing the math to calculate OD, tire specs are online at most retailers or the mfg.

275/35-19: 275mm/35%= 96.25mm sidewall height. times 2 = 192.5mm (converted to inches, 192.5/25.4 = 7.58") than add the rim bead diameter, 19", you get 26.58"

255/30-19: 255mm/30%= 76.5mm sidewall height. times 2 = 153mm (converted to inches, 153/25.4 = 6.02") than add the rim bead diameter, 19", you get 25.02"

So, unless you wrote down the aspect ratios wrong (if you meant 255/35 and 275/30, which is more common) 25.02"/26.58" is 94.1%, or a 6% difference. Way too much for an X-drive car.

If you meant 255/35 (26.02" OD) & 275/30 (25.5" OD) that is 1.02%, so a 2% difference, closer but still not good for x-drive. A 245/35 front would work better with a 275/30 rear, thats 0.9%, acceptable

Hope that helps

The fried and tested method for xDrive is 235/40/19 front and 265/35/19 rear.

Hope that helps, also I wouldn’t consider running with 1 Michelin rear and an Avanti!!

Thanks very much for the info and help, really appreciated. Ended up buying the wheels as they were to good to let go at the price (£650 with center caps, tyres and TPMs. I did get the tyre sizes wrong per my original post as they man had written them wrong. The tyres are actually 255/35/19 and 275/35/19 which by my calculations is 0.97 difference?.

I love the look of them on the car, there doesn't seem to be any rub at all but one thing I have noticed is that when I floor it or cross over the central white lines of a road the front seems a bit whishy washy (doesn't feel as griipy as my 18s did (standard 225/245 sizes. Is there a reason for this and are these tyres ok to run (until I need new ones) without damaging the xdrive system.

Thanks again guys, really appreciate it.

Great to know, was going to trawl through the post again to find this out when I need to change my tires but as long as these tyres are within tolerance then I'll plod on with them and change to these sizes when needed 👍

Thanks for your input and help, really appreciate it

hey there - very nice fitment. I am collecting my 437m's wrapped in PSS this weekend and now need to look into dropping the car.

Wondering, what stock suspension did you have before putting on the H&R SS? M sport static or adaptive? When I am looking at the springs, it seems like the amount of drop depends on what stock suspension the car already has. Guessing it has to do with the shocks?

I had the non-adaptive stock suspension and springs before going with the sport springs. Not super sport... the blue ones, not red.

Just picked up a set of gloss black OEM 437M wheels a few days ago and got my Conti DWS06+ mounted up from my 704M wheels. So its a 255/225 stagger which is a bit more stretched than I would like, but it'll do until my tires are worth replacing with a 265/235 stagger.

Going to be picking up some H&R sport lowering springs over the winter at some point to lower the car a bit come spring time.

Still need to get some of the tire shop soap/lube off the tires wheels, but I had to snap a pic before we get snow tomorrow here in NJ.
