Help...X5M fog lamp malfunction...

New 2010 X5M owner. Previous owner upgraded the halos to LED. Whenever I start the engine i get " right fog lamp malfunction" warning. The lights look and work fine, but it's irritating. What are my options? Can the code be cleared? Do i need to go back to H8 bulbs or different LED brand? Thanks!!

should read as a DRL malfunction, probably because they are cheap chinese crap bulbs. Go back to an H8 Bulb, or get a quality LED like the MTec or Lux. I have the Mtec and love it.

Does the dealer have to clear the code or is it something I can do with a handheld obd Scanner?

LED's have a different resistance than OEM bulb. I get it on my E92 a lot of times for the turn signals because of the LED turn signals in the OSS headlights. Only way to get rid of it would be to use canbus LED's (not always effective) or have a shop/person code out the bulb check feature on startup.
