powdercoating

was entertaining the idea of powder coating my wheels, and was quoted $125 per wheel from a local guy who has done some work on other cars for me. I was wondering if this was a decent price, or if I can get it done significantly cheaper? thanks for any help!

That is on the lower end of pricing, a deal if that includes sand blasting. I've seen prices as high as $350/wh.

Note, I've coated many many a part, and shopped around as I've lived in multiple states, the prices vary by a huge margin. What you can get in Houston, might be different than Austin, might be different in say in Willis or Montgomery. Regional factors, environmental laws, the income of the neighborhood all play a factor. The worst so far, Seattle. Go 20 miles north or south, I saved about 30%. The best, Southern California.

Add to that, the choice in powder does too. Is it normally stocked? Is it a special order or metallic?

At $125/wh, and that included sand blasting/media blasting, I'd be all over that.

My 18x8 wheels on a Subaru use a metallic "Porsche Silver." Normally stocked, very popular color. (Mental note, go with a darker color to hide pad dust)

Also you may want to see if you can add a clear coat on, if the powder is not glossy, but you like the color.
