Took my X6 M to the track

So I just came back from Laguna Seca. There were some highs and lows...

Highs:

I went with my roommate and a friend. When we arrived, eeeveryone was there with a trailor, slick tiers, and some of the most professional equpment you will see. All I did was, check the oil level and TPM via the iDrive system The 2 cents i had in the tray I put in the cup holder so it doesnt fly about, and thatssss it. Once on track I was afraid there would be a lot of break fade, but it turns out that it held up pretty well. What blew my mind was the level of grip the car had (ON STREET TIERS). It even rotated upon entry once past the apex, when it hooked up it catapulted like a hornet off a carrier. Every one in the paddock was shocked at how quick it was!

The Lows:

Once rotated i would floor the gas hoping for the tail to come our but it was desastrus when the ABS tried to sort the car out when i got back on the gas. it was veeery frustrating! I had everything "off" (DSC off, sport this and that, etc...) yet the ABS was slapping giving me a slap on the naughty wrist.

Looks like a lot of fun!
So if i understood correctly, when you turned off all the nannies, the car was still trying to correct itself?
I thought you can completelly disable electronic stability controls and what not
I know this car can easily do powerslides and donuts (if the surface is slippery), but i wonder if ABS still kicks in in the process
Are you 100% sure you disabled everything?

P.S. Are you stock?
How did you do against others?
Are you running Bridgestones or Dunlops?

looks like a fun day. Did you hold the DSC button for 10 sec to completely turn off the traction control?

sorry if im about to jumble some answers, maaany questions to answer, and im glad to answer them ... thanks for u r responses

- yes it would correct it self as soon as i would get back on the throttle, and the ABS would kick in. for instance at turn 2 i would trailbrake aaaaall the way in the corner and want the back end to come around and it does but as soon as i slam on the gas to get the back end around it would shut down.

- on my friend's e46 330ci we were able to hold the DSC for 10 secs and ALL aids would be turned off. i tried it on my e46 M3 and X6 M and both didnt work. im 100% sure i deactivated everything according to what the iDirive let me...

- yup the car is all stock. my roommate and i over took every car or hung with others accept the red gt2rs which to no surprise absolutly desssstroid us... not even a corner and it was goneeee. im running on the bridgestones.

- thanks itsme123 , i didnt get the car to show off or prance about in (though im envious of the ppl who can see the car from the outside, cuz i think its beautiful and wish there was a gigantic mirror so i can see it while driving) it did what it was suppose to do... make an SUV ooopps did i say that, i meant SAC go really really fast!

- this one driver came to me after asking all about the car saying im surprised at this "soccer mom car" doing what it did hahahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahhaha

- when i drove the formula dodge at luguna going to skip barber my times were like 1:49 or so from white i recall and 100mph at the breaking point of turn 2. now with the X6, it was 120mph at that breaking zone, and a loooot more corner speed. i learnt a looot since i went to skip barber. my roommate and i pull around the same times. He races in grand-am rolex and continental tier series (all im saying is we r no slouches). since we were all excited to just get out there and have a blast non of us remembered to record times.

Great fun there!
I'm glad you were feeling good amount of grip from OEM Duelers
I hope they are as good as Dunlops they're replacing, but with 1/2 price
Also RFTs, right?

yes they r. i was really surprised at the price of the tiers. in a way for the track i am glad its the RFT, cuz it was leaning haaard on the side walls. u can see that the top part of the righting made contact with the asphalt.

AndreyATC linked to this thread in answering a question I had about taking the X6 for a track day. I'm actually thinking about signing up for the same Laguna Seca driver's education class, which is is how I got directed here.

Anyway, I just wanted to compliment you on the photos and your track day story, even though this is a pretty old thread now. Loved reading about your experience.
