4 octave range. Special.

He had big time depression issues that he tried to numb with substances and then he cleaned up.
Depression can be some scary, scary stuff. Treatment is usually chemical but some are able to walk it off after intense counseling. The later is very rare.

I hate to report this, but he was obviously in a very dark hole. It's confirmed, he hung himself.

Sucks so bad. I feel for his wife.

It is a bummer. I saw Nirvana in November 1993, a few months before Kurt died. I saw Alice in Chains at Lollapalooza in 1993 and Stone Temple Pilots 1997. All these deaths had a Heroin undertone (I know how Chris passed, but he battle issues earlier and the addiction stays with you). It is such a horrible drug.

We went to see Eric Church last night.

He opened the show with Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah and a lit empty mic stand. It was a nice tribute.

A lot of things are pointing at the benzo Ativan. Taken for depression but can sometimes cause suicidal thoughts. I just dont get that.

Man I grew up with Soundgarden and thought he had one of the best Bond themes around.

I was pretty bummed when I read he had passed suddenly in his hotel room after a show in Detroit, even sadder when they suspected it was suicide.

I listened to all his stuff this weekend. If you really want to hear how pure his voice is, listen to his solo stuff. It was great to see all the tributes to him at the "Rock on the Range" show. This is really, really tough for me. I've never been affected this much by any celebrity dying or someone I never met. Just sucks.

It's a real shame he's gone. Pretty mad about it. Was more so when Scott died. Unbelievable.

Guess the only ones left are Corgan and Vedder.
