Thank you all for your replies, I appreciate you guys taking the time. (Most of you anyway) :-)

I've noticed that you suggest a wide variety of cities and states, I would appreciate if you could motivate the pros and cons. Just the main things.

I've travelled to south Florida and NYC a few times the past years and I think I would appreciate something more south. I'm confident the north east region has some great parts but I think I would enjoy skipping the snow. Idk, a good quality of life is more important than having warm weather.

Portland, OR.

One of the fastest growing cities in the US. Great community, plenty of culture, very diverse, beautiful sceneries, outdoors, and amazing summers.

If you want to continue selling cars, both Kuni BMW and BMW of Portland were top rated dealerships in the U.S.

Since I think you might melt in the warmer climates I would suggest Portland.

quality housing should be your main objective. The more congested the area the more pricy the rentals. A few decades ago the whites fled the cities and the cities decayed. Now with a resurgence of city life, clean safe urban housing is pricy, if you want secure parking then that's a pricy monthly expense.
Suburbia is another matter, good apartment complex's take a lot of searching.

Florida look at Naples, West palm-Boca, st pete, orlando.
Carolinas, charlotte nc, asheville, nc, charleston sc, savannah ga. Honorable mention Virginia beach va, Austin tx, Dallas tx. All nice, low crime, low taxes, low housing cost, etc. Better women and beaches in Florida lol. Seasons in nc, va, tx. I'd make a list of what is important to you and research each suggestion. Forget Minnesota, cold as balls, northeast, expensive, nasty people, crowded, Hawaii, fun for a vacation but you're stuck there and unless all you do is water sports boring after a bit, super expensive, California, oppressive laws, super expensive, crowded.

Your original post said you don't want something too hot. Have you been to South Florida in the summer or only the winter?

This is a great opportunity for me and something I've wanted for a long time, but it's difficult to know where to look for a place to settle down. There's just too many options.

So who am I and what do I look for?
I'm a 24 year old service manager (at a BMW dealership of course) living in a small swedish town (<25 000 inhabitants).
I would prefer to move to a place where the weather is better than here but not too hot. I would also prefer a larger city, around 250 000 inhabitants would be minimum. Needless to say it should have a good thriving job market and low criminality.

As always there's pros and cons to every place but I just wan't to research some interesting areas and who's better to trust than you guys?

I should add that I could consider a job outside the automotive business.

Please help me in the right direction!
Sound like Minnesota is the state for you.

He has the entire continent to pick from and people recommend here? Weather is atrocious, there's no landscape at all, it's hideously expensive. Only thing going for it is that it is safe and there's work.

Problem with the US is the nice places not run by lunatic right wing nutjobs are crazy expensive or freezing cold.

I'd be looking for a place with direct flights to sweden, moderate climate and decent jobs, I dunno ... I don't think such a place exists.

Nah. I was a hockey goalie and state champ ski team and i do fine. Summers in NYC area are much worse and hotter than Florida. And 9 months of the year is 80s or lower. He'd die in Sweatlanta though.

Ahh come on...you make it sound like this is the North Pole or something

Personally I'll take the weather, flat grounds of GTA and the expensive prices for the safety and the decent economy that comes with it.

Ew, don't do this.

Ottawa, Montreal or Quebec. I would suggest Vancouver, but housing there is still ridiculous. But Vancouver is the only one where you don't really get winter.
