Already thought I didn't like Tesla.... Now this news??

Unreal treatment of employees.. Almost too ridiculous to believe.

I believe it. Musk doesn't know shit about manufacturing and he thinks everyone, down to the assembly line workers, ought to share his passion and drive for his mission. He works a ton of hours and dedicates his life to these companies he runs so he for some reason expects everyone else to have the same attitude. It's absurd and unsustainable. Driving production workers into the ground does NOT improve productivity and thus it does not increase profits. It's done purely out of ignorance.

Here is what I find a bit hard to believe, Calif has some pretty tough labor laws and work safety rules if it was really this bad calif would be all over it.

The Electronics industry tried this stuff back in the 80's and 90's and the state was all over them. They use to abuse temp workers, so they did not have to hire them full time. They would hire temps and keep them for years and would not allow overtime, they would just hire more temps to avoid overtime. Because of this the longest some on can be temp is 18 months, the company either had to hire them or let them go and could not bring them back for a period of time without hiring them as permanently. Also any one who is hourly generally do not complain about overtime, time and half is good money.

Not saying it is not hard working at tesla, but their is more to this story than what we are hearing.

I agree with that. Also need to note that these seem to be ex employees. Many probably got fired or let go and are salty. I've been working in manufacturing for a while now and people will complain about the most ridiculous things in the process sometimes. I also didn't see too much in this article in terms of ergonomics that isn't true of any assembly plant. Some of the jobs are overhead for example but they rotate people around and one of the reasons is ergonomics.

That's horrible news. Maybe Musk, and Kapernick( Uber ) are related. Tesla and Uber are allegedly loosing money. However, they seem to continue to stay in business. Maybe one day the bubble will burst.

From your link in short...

Lesnik and other employees at the Tesla site worked seven days a week, mostly working 10-hour shifts. The workers, however, were only paid for 40 hours a week, and the company did not pay the required rate for overtime.

Tesla relied on cheap foreign labor to build a hi-tech paint shop in California, paying workers as little as $5 an hour !

In April, Tesla took in almost $10 billion in pre-orders in just two days for its Model 3, which the company is marketing as its first attempt at an affordable electric car, scheduled for shipping next year.

This has been an ongoing story in one form or another for a while now. Doesn't seem to bother the concentration of customers in CA.

Yep. I work in the engineering/tech field, and know quite a few people that work there or at SpaceX. I usually hear that it is brutal hours, but you get to work on cool stuff.

The thing I don't get is how they pay quite a bit less than comparable jobs in the industry.

I'm sure some will get paid less just for having a Musk related work experience on their resume. At least that's what I'd do, then go off somewhere less brutal that would pay more.

Yeah I am sure a lot of them were let go or past employee's. It seems though that this is a known problem and they are just like "Whatever, It is what it is" at Tesla.

I have had nothing but horrible experiences with Tesla.

The front line employees feel overly staged and trained. There's no real "oomph" behind them, just scripted responses.

Let me give you an example. My mother bought a Tesla recently. The day of delivery, the car broke. We had to leave it there and pick up another day. After fighting with them, they agreed to flatbed it to us.

Fine.

Experience Number 2: I wanted to buy her floor mats for mothers day, its what she wanted. I went to the local mall "store" to try and buy them, but to no avail, they dont carry in stores and you need to order online. OK. I order, pay for 2 day shipping. AFTER you complete the purchase, they show a disclaimer that orders dont ship out for 5-7 business days. Well why TF did i pay $30 in shipping on top of grossly overpriced ($250) floor mats. I Called 14 different phone numbers, emailed tesla customer serviec a million times, no response.

Fuck them. I'll never buy a tesla
