If you over inflate, you risk blowing a tire especially once you take a longer trip at higher speeds! Also, if you inflate the tire with a higher or lower pressure then the recommended pressure, and something does happen, it will NOT be covered by any warranty. Neither the car nor the tire manufacturers warranty! Always measure tire pressure when the tires are cool.

You should also take a look at the owners manual.
The owners manual actually shows you all the different tire options BMW offers for your particular model along with different cargo/passenger loading scenarios and maximum speed you intend on traveling. Based on that, you may need to adjust the tire pressure! This is especially important of you intend on going on a long trip with your entire family and have LOTS of stuff in the trunk... The sticker in the driver side door frame tells you the 'generic' or 'every day' pressure you should have your tires inflated at.

Xdrive next time you're at the dealer take a closer look at the "trunk" on a good day you would be lucky to get a little stuff in there. Our trips are my wife and I and the dog and I put a cover on his seat. As far as the tire pressure I have two stickers on my door and the big one I have been paying attention to matches the owners manual. Sorry about the pics from phone. |

Now if we could just get them to provide a locking glove compartment/center console. But I have cups holders so I'm happy , my wife pisses on BMW for the lack of cups holders in her 330i. It's funny BMw offers different options for different regiosn but can't seem to get that in the US we spend time in bumper to bumper traffic and don't get go 120MPH to work. oh well. |

I have found the tire pressure per BMW door sticker recommendation 32psi all around to be too soft, and the tire wear out too quickly. I put 36psi all around have better handling, feel stiff, and wear even than 32psi.

Not all gauges indicate the same pressure, especially the analog (stick types). If you over inflate a tire, you will actually end up with less control over your car as there is less rubber on the ground. It's entirely up to you if you want to go higher than what's recommended by the manufacturer. I wouldn't.

Sine I have 21 inch tires, would you go with 36 also? Today was the first cold day and two tires showed low. All were at 26 from the dealer so that confused me. Now they are at 36 I am am understanding more about the harsh ride of the run-flats!

2013 3.5i w/stock 19"
My X6 was delivered to Alaska with Michelin Latitude HP+ all seasons 255/50-19. I have 18,000 miles on them and they've worked great as true all-seasons, so I'm not having to swap out to winter tires, saving that expense and headache. That being said, the dealer had kept them at 40psi all around which has caused them to wear out faster along the center crown of the tires. I've dropped them to the recommended 32front/36rear, but now I'm experiencing "rut hunt", where the vehicle likes to wander following road ruts, and that gets very annoying constantly fighting the steering. I asked the dealer to check worn front end parts (this car is babied) and I have about 1/2 tread left, but dealer is saying the wander is due to the tires. I hate the thought of buying a new set with so much tread left, but plan on doing so this coming spring and pursuing the worn front end issue, if that still exists after new tires are installed...I've read about the worn front end bushing issue and hope it's something simple as that and not shot tie rods or ball joints...
