X5M Maintenance
Hey guys,
I'm at 40k miles and I'm thinking about getting the engine walnut blasted. Has anyone done this on the s63? Thanks, |

Don't bother, I just did mine at 97,000 and they were pretty clean. I was hoping it would have been dirtier.

I would recommend getting the trans and diff's drained and filled. The techs and my SA recommends that (he is a friend). I had my wifes X5 50i done at 40k and I spoke to the tech after the drain and he said the fluid needed to be changed. I tend to be more aggressive on fluid changes because of my past with cars, It was a must. I will be keeping this X5 for a few more years due to the wife not in love with the new F15 and I have warranty for 3 more years so I am in no hurry yet.

Yeah, but something like this usually degrades over time and you may not notice something's wrong until you get the service done and "HOLY COW WHY DIDN'T I GET THIS DONE EARLIER!". Think shocks & suspension.

That all makes sense, but the decision might be a bit aggressive at 40K with no known carbon build up issues on the S63 and no driveability issues.
