Iphone not syncing address to nav

I just upgraded my iphone to 3gs and paired it with the X6 ( after deleting old pairing entry) and everything works fine from the phone standpoint.
However there is something strange going on and I can't figure out how to rectify it. After pairing, all my contact name and phone numbers show up under the communication address book.

When I go to the navigation section and select "new destination" and "from address book" all that shows is one entry that I manually entered a couple months ago via idrive. None of the contacts that are in the communication section show up.

So what am I missing ?

I think they are two seperate databases. I also have an iPhone 3GS and its contents are loaded into the communication address book. The navigation address book contains manual entries and those sent from mapping engines like Google Maps (which is pretty cool). From what I can tell, you can't select a phone address book entry and map it through navigation. I will keep playing, maybe we are missing something.

I have used the google maps feature and just love that.
just seems odd to me that I can't sync my entries (with addresses) to nav.
I did google search on this and found some folks had issues but it was hard to tell if it was with the comm address book or nav address book (one method was to add 2000 bogus contacts to your address book then sync, tried that didn't work, well added them to comm address book).

If you get any other info please let me know.
Thanks.
