Failing Water Pump on a 2009 x6 50i?
I have been having some more problems with my battery
(see http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=467757) and after the last battery 'fix' the first time I turned the car over in the morning I got a warning on the iDrive system that the engine was too hot. Seemed weird since the car sat overnight and it was 24 degrees outside. Well, over the next week I got the same error message every single time the x6 started, so I got fed up and took it into the dealer last Thursday. I am told I need a new Water Pump (obviously still covered by warranty.) That seems odd: I have owned 27 cars over 34 years of driving and not one car has ever had its water pump replaced. Does this not seem odd for a car with just 32k miles on it? |

My 2009 X50i lost a water pump at 3k miles; it took 3 weeks to garner a replacement from the engine manufacturing line in Germany and install it. I was told by the dealer (and I'm not sure if it is true) that the X50i has 4 water pumps, two on each side of the V8.
