Glovebox DVD player issue

Just decided to try out the DVD player function on my X5, and have come across an issue.

In-dash dvd/cd works fine, plays both discs as it should.

Glovebox 6 disc changer will recognize and play a CD, but does not show artist content that showed up when using the in-dash unit.
DVD will load the disc, but show as "unknown" in grey and not play at all.

Is this possibly a software issue, dirty lense issue, or worse?
