Exclamation X6M power steering problem

I had the x6m 2010 got it back in august 09 .I drove the car for about 6000Km then I noticed a problem in the power steering was loosing oil and I got a dash board message .I went to the dealer and they dignose the problem as a power steering dinmo problem .It was not available at that time so they order it and in 3 days they fix my car .I thought it is just one of these normal cases .Any way recently a freind of mine has the same problem on his x6m also .He was hearing a noice in the steering will driving so I told him to check the powersteering oil and it was leaking .His car will be fixed this week .

I want to know if any of you experiance the same problem or know the reason .As I heared it is somthing related to pwersteering oil pressure .

not ...yet

I've active steering. so far so good.
If they r as thorough as they r Teutonic, they should be able to trace the manufacture of the offending part & the assembly line crew that installed it into ur car, & issue a RECALL !

I just came back from vacation...the night before I left, I noticed that the steering wheel makes a noise when turning, it is not continous, rather as if the wheel "whines" for part of the turn ..I haven't driven it as of yet, but I will and will report back... how would you describe the noise that you had in yours? and how can you tell if the power steering wheel is leaking? BWT I don't have an active steering wheel.

yeah..the sound is still there...I should also say that the car has only 1000 km on it (2010 X6 35i).
the best way to describe the noise is like when you slide your finger on a the hood after waxing it!!! it happens when turning right or left and for only part of the turn. I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not, but I noticed it after I adjusted the steering wheel (out and lower).
I am just going to ignore it for now, unless it gets worse...
if anyone has the same issue...please post.

My advice is to take your car to the dealer and have have them check it in case there's someting wrong...just to be on the safe side.

I dont expect the problem to show on adaptive steering option coz I use to have the x6 5.0 with adaptive steering and every thing was ok .

||I think the problem specific to the normal steering system like the one used in the x6M

XBMW6 .......... you can check the steering oil level and if you see a leakage in that area then you are experiancing the same problem .

I got my car fixed by the delar and my friend also got his car fixed .They are quite about the cause but hopfully it will be solve for all
