After posting this thread I have been advised that I may get a better deal on an X6 that is in someones current inventory. As such My dealer cannot tell me if I can buy the 3-seater rear bench and install it into a 2011 X6. If so I could come out ahead of the came, money wise. Does anyone know if this is possible? I have no problem waiting but, hey...money is money. And since the only visible difference between the 2012 and the 2011 model is the option for the 3-seat rear bench I am happy to save $7K on a 2011 model year closeout.
Suggestions? |

My dealer gave me the invoice prices (printed them out) while we were building my 2012 X6. If your dealer wont give you invoice prices, you can simply multiply list prices by .925 and you'll be very close to BMW invoice prices. Dealers make 7.5% on each car before volume or special factory incentives. If you lease, be sure to ask for the BMW base rate for the money factor. You can find monthly program lease rates on line after about the 8th of the month. Here are March lease rates...residuals and money factors:

Update to 2012 price changes
Inspector gadget - I made a couple of changes to what you wrote (going off the price sheet now). I realized your recording was garbled so I thought I would clear up where possible. Your post has been really helpful to me since the website is still not up to date. My changes are in italics - if you want to update yours, I'll delete mine. (PS - I'm upset that privacy glass is now standard - I was going to skip the Rear Climate Package because the interior of this beast is dark enough already)
X6 xDrive 35i MY 2011: $57K MSRP MY 2012: $58.9K MSRP Added as standard features for X6 35i are: BMW assist Lumbar Support Auto Dimming Mirrors Privacy Glass Ambient Lighting Heated front seats. Since all this was once optioned out at an additional fee there is a net savings (kinda) of $950 X6 xDrive 50i MY 2011: $67.7K MY 2012: $69.5K Added as standard features for the X6 50i are USB/iPod adapter BMW assist Univ Garage Door Opener Auto dimming mirrors Privacy glass Ambient lighting Heated front seats Again, all this was once in options so you save a potential $850 further for the X6: A 5-seat option will cost and additional $350 New price for the cold weather package is $750 Technology pkg is now HUD, Auto-adjust High Beams, and side view cameras. Pkg price for the Technology Pkg is $1700 previously this was a 35i option only and got you nav and rear view camera, those are now in other packages and this package is now consistent between the 3.5 and 5.0 The Premium Pkg for the 35i will now include the rear-view camera, Nav, $ zone Climate control, Rear Sun Shades and Comfort access. Pkg price is $3500 The Premium Pkg for the 50i will now include Comfort Access, rear-view camera, rear manual side window shades, and 4-zone auto climate control Pkg price is $2,100 The Premium sound pkg for the 50i is reduced from $1800 to $1500 due to the iPod adapter becoming standard on the 50i Sport Activity Pkg is still the same price and features Rear Climate Package is no longer available Heated Rear Seats are no longer available as a standalone option - you have to get the Cold Weather Package On that note, the Cold Weather Package now includes heated rear seats on the 35i |

I think Ambient Light is a very dimmed light that illuminates the floor area on the driver and passenger's side, my wife has an Audi Q7 and has that feature, at the beginning felt like useless, and kind of weird too, then we got used to it.

As for my purchase I still have yet to pull the trigger on the 2012 model yet. I have a mental blockage buying a car that costs as much as my first house even if I can afford it. That and the fact that some of these threads make me doubt my sanity wanting to purchase a bimmer. Some of these posts are just scary. I don't want to pay almost 80k dfor a car with a crappy paint job or that has to undergo 19 service visits in its first year. Still I LOVE THIS CAR! My local dealer has a new 2011 50i on the lot that was just reduced $4500! My wallet is itching...but I'm still sitting on it. |

When I got my 2006 550i, I did everything to keep it under $70K. Still, the night before, I just couldn't believe I was about to spend that much money on a car. To tell you the truth, that was probably my favorite car ever (yes, better than my M5) and after the first month, I did not think about the price. Each and every car (not just BMWs) can have issues. I've been fortunately enough to never have more than one or two issues with my cars (1995 325i, 2000 540i, 2006 550i, and 2008 M5..oh wait, 2010 Clubman too). Part of the key is to NEVER buy a first year BMW (or even a 2nd year) and part of the key is luck. I might add that the worst car I EVER had (10+ trips to the dealer, out of service 3+ months in the first two years) was my 2003 Lexus GS430. So just remember, you can have issues with any car and just because it costs a TON of money, doesn't mean it is or SHOULD be reliable. Reliable cars do not have tons of technology baked in, think Corolla So there, now hurry up and get yours PS -where are you located? |
