I am guessing the noise comes from the seat/rail junctions, so that's where it should be sprayed? |

I've got an annoying Rice Krispies plastic sound that only seems to occur when the car is hot. I'm wondering if its coming from the A/C ducts as they cool down.

Does anyone else see something wrong with having to buy and apply tape and oil to stop noises from a so called "luxury" $70K+ car?
Seriously, BMW need to get their act together, the number of people I have met who have stated that this is their last BMW is growing, and if they don't think this will happen, they just need to keep their head in the sand and lose more market and customers. |

I think you just have to spray the whole damn car with oil, since it squeaks like ish.

Best solution. Put the car up for sale. That's what I'm doing

Hi guys,
Thankfully I dont have any noise issues with my X6, but I'm glad I read this thread first as I was THIS close to trying to upgrade my speakers (I have the basic sound system which is good but nothing compared to my B&O in my last Audi A5) and now I'm too scared in opening up the doors just incase it doesnt get put back right! |

While my 2012 doesn't have suspension noises I do hear creaks from the door handles. They just seem quite thin and not very tightly mounted in the door. Not what I would expect from BMW, but other than that she is solid.
Anyone know if these can be tightened?

Problem is on the plastic thickness, they used cheap plastic and squeeks when you move or when the day is too hot, but none of this issues will make me think in switching to another brand, My wife drives an Audi Q7 with no issues regarding plastics noises, but tousands of electronic issues, so dont suffer thats is why BMW puts such a great stereo, in order to mute the noises........smart people.......

Well, my car squeekfed immediately after the purchase. So, I went to the dealer, informed them of the issue, they dismantled the console, taped everything, and the problem was solved. After two years the car makes a few more noises, but nothing bad. I won't be changing brands either. Everything on the road is ugly to the X6 (not as big fan of the X5 styling, btw), by comparison, and inferior in overall feel/ performance, whether its an AMG Gelendewagen/ ML, Cayenne, Any Rover, Audi anything, etc. I do have the full Dinan package for our cars, though.

Thanks for the info, I may ask the dealer to take a look next time as well. I won't be switching brands either ;-)

I'm resigned to the fact that our crappy, pothole-ridden roads will cause the most well built tank to eventually develop some rattles. That doesn't excuse the cheap, flimsy plastic seat bases and HVAC ducts BMW uses in their high end cars. So with that in mind, any rattle or squeak has always been solved by a call to the dealership for a service appointment. The rattle fixes have always been covered under warranty for me so there's no point to me wasting my time finding the rattles and then felt taping everything. Let BMW take on that time and cost .
