2014 X5 50i poor low speed throttle response?
I have a 2011 X5 50i with 43,000 miles and am considering whether to get a new one. The 2014 X5 50i sounds like it has some worthwhile improvements including 445 hp vs 400 hp and 480 ft-lbs vs 450 ft-lbs. However, the couple of reports that I have read refer to a flat or laggy response when stepping off. The 0-60 times are supposed to have improved by a couple of tenths, but I am wondering if the VVT valvetronics engine modifications have resulted in this softness at launch? The N63 in my 2011 makes 450 ft-lbs at 1750 rpm, while the S63 in the 2014 makes 480 ft-lbs but at a higher 2000 rpm. Bigger numbers at the expense of low end response? I don't know, but I am very tempted to just get a stage 2 Dinan programming on my current N63.
Any thoughts/comments? |

I have stage 4 such big improvement, but the stage 2 makes the biggest improvement from stock. You will see a huge gain on hp and most important tq. The true beast for a suv comes out and to be honest coming from a non m engine im amaze what this engine could do
