X5M exhaust/injector question

Got a question on the exhaust for the X5M. I cleaned my tips this weekend, they were very black internally. There was also a bunch of carbon around the rear valance by the tips. After driving three days the tips are Black again and there is a residue of carbon around the tips area.
I have not really gotten into it hard this week. I've also notice my gas mileage has dropped about 2-3 MPG. I used to average around 16 and now just barely crack 13. I've only got about 22K on it.
Also when it is cold it does a long crank to start. When the weather was cold and it sat out at work it did a longer than normal start. It did not do this last winter when it was even colder.
The check engine light has not come on. If there is a problem with the injectors would it throw a code or have one I could read with a scanner?
Thanks

I do believe you're looking at the injector issue that so many have faced. From what I understand (help me out guys) the injectors leak and fail to hold pressure. The leakiness is what causes the soot out back, and the failure to hold pressure while the vehicle is off is probably what causes the long crank time when starting.

Something I haven't tried (others maybe have...?) is to turn the vehicle on completely (ignition on) and wait a few seconds (this should start the fuel pump and prime the system) and THEN start the engine. I wonder if it would start any quicker...?

Good luck.

Try to look at the post that you already posted on for n63.

Fuel injector dipping will cause that issue, when it is too much the cel will come up.
But it might not give you the exact fault code, I wish the isid can figure out as when is going on but the dme is too board and far beyond my knowledge.

I have replaced the low pressure fuel sensor, spark plug, vent pipe on crankcase.
Basically everything listed will have problem on the n63 post. All at my cost because I choose to mod and running a tune.
Warranty is not for me at all.

Should we write letter to complain this to BMW NA as a group of x5m owners?
I wish I can get a ride on that when I turn everything back into stock.
Which cost less than the job on fuel injectors

So just pray to God and the BMW NA has care package for s63 soon.

Fuel injectors are not possible for DIY change.
My car has very poor mpg, probably I always drive in m mode and with the tune on it. And the cel is on, I still struggling between my wallet

It is a great car to drive, but the cost of maintenance when the car out of warranty or with the mods.

If you are having issue and still under warranty, ask the local dealer run the diagnostic and fix it before warranty expired.

There is a way to make the cel on( search on here) , when the cylinder misfire 1-2 cy on both side, I think they will do that for you.

Got an appointment for next Wednesday to drop it off and get it checked out. The service advisor was saying these are high performance machines and some soot it okay. Some soot is expected but in three days my tips look like my tires is not okay, especially when it has not done that in the past. We will see what they find out. He did ask if the CEL was on, that gave me comfort.

Oh he also said the M's don't have the problems with the injectors. I didn't even feel like arguing with the ill prepared.

I had my injectors replaced at 79k miles ,out of warranty via BMW NA goodwill ..the original quote was north of 8k to fix ...they do know it's a prob on earlier cars and you need to push a little to get replaced. My car used to have black soot and bad mileage and now 11k miles later it's great ..no soot, mileage is good ~18mpg and I run a tune ..so you will definitely notice diff if replaced ..I will find the injector part numbers that are good and post up here
