Pair of Black Leather Multi Contour Seats For Sale-Aurora, IL
They're not mine, but I thought I'd share since they're a great deal-only $400: http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/pts/4823202980.html

This looks to be a pretty good deal, only $400 to get multi-contour seats? They were $1300 (or $900 w/ ZAP) if ordering new, and you don't see these come up too often. Even better deal if you don't already have the sport seats.

Yeah. I found the price interesting, so I thought I'd share with the group. Thankfully, I'm not tempted since I have sand beige leather sport seats.

If you are going to try to retro-fit them in place of a standard seat: - make sure the yellow multi-connector is compatible with the one in your car. This multi-contour seat has many more adjustments than a standard seat and probably requires more wires and/or more current to operate. - The seat module under the seat has to be programmed to the car so that it recognizes the fact that it has a M/C seat with the various unique functions. - Important! These seats were removed from from the original vehicle for a reason. If it was in any kind of collision that made the airbag(s) go off, it more than likely also set of the pyrotechnic seat belt pre-tensioner on the side of the seat. Make sure you test it. They can be replaced. - finally, if these seats were in an accident, the frame may be bent. There is really no way to properly test for that. - There may be fewer compatibility issues if you are going to replace your sport seat with the M/C seat, because they have almost the same number of functions ....

For $400 I may just buy these as they are identical to the seats I have now...I actually broke my powered lumbar support last weekend cleaning the interior...I must have leaned against it while it was extended out and pushed it in by accident because now the button that retracts and extends it doesn't work anymore....I hear the motor working but it must of came off track internally

Does anyone know what it'd take to get these into an X that has regular sport seats? If its an easy swap, I'm thinking about jumping on them. Of course, I'd need to get the buttons on the dash for the ventilating, but aside from that...?

But yes, I'd love to get the ventilation working. I'm not huge on the massaging as I've heard its kind of a gimmick. Do you have any of these options?

Also, I was also looking for Cinnamon interior and I think ventilated seats were only available with the black interior? IMO paying $400 for multi-contour seats is worth it given the several years + you'll own your X5. And your Sport Seats should sell quickly to someone with the standard seats. |

And I hope you're right, I'd love to sell the sport seats if I acquire these.

I've posted previously on this: for years I have been trying to figure out whether or not multi-contour seats are a plug-and-play conversion ...
My tentative conclusion is: a. if you have the right yellow multi-plug in your wiring harness in the floor, then your car is pre-wired and more than likely compatible with M/C seats. This would make sense from a work flow on the factory floor. The most likely candidates are e70's with sport seats. Not sure about pre-LCI vs LCI ... b. the next step would be to make sure that the m/c seats your buying has the seat module. These are located under the seat. Once installed, the car has to be coded to accept the different seat. I suspect that if this is not done properly, that the car would not start since it may think that it has been in an accident ... c. I've been in touch with the seller, $400 is an excellent price ... but there are still a lot of important safety unknowns. E.g. he doesn't know if these seats came out of a car that was involved in a significant collision of any sort. The seats may, or may not have a bend frame. He also doesn't know if the pyrotechnic seat belt pre-tensioners have been activated (approx $120/ea), or if the seat modules are affected. The seats came out of a MY 2009. That means build in 2008, so pre-LCI. d. the seller won't ship. But if you want to make your own arrangements, expect to pay about $100/seat. They need to be secured on a pallet and shipped by motorfreight ... All in all too many variables and unknowns for me, but if anyone here is going to do it, I'd be VERY interested in knowing the results!

Since they'd likely be difficult to match to another X5, I was thinking they'd make great office chairs. Just grab some donor bases, some wood and mount 'em. Maybe hook up a small 12v battery underneath and run some jumpers for adjustability!

They'd fit perfectly in my X5, but I already have MC. Is the ventilated function worth $400?

I'm thinking it'd be nice to have, my question is how hard is the retrofit. I'd need new dash buttons too...

I use my ventilated seats every time I drive the truck since my wife keeps the heat at around 80 degrees because of the baby and I absolutely love them...I couldn't imagine not having these in Florida
