Heads Up display (HUD) Menus
Through some research and other sites, I found the HUD menu. Not sure if there is anything we can change in them. I was hoping for the tach and other features available in the M. Here are the instructions, if you find it useful or you can tweak something, please post!
With the car on, press and hold the HUD button for about 20 seconds. A menu of 17 items will appear (8 per page) but only four are active; Identification, System Test, Lock and Exit. Each time you press the HUD button it move to the next available feature. To activate any feature, hold the button down for about 10 second, a second menu to the right appears. On Lock, it asks for a code. Mine was 23, the result of adding the last five digits of my VIN together (I know, too much time on my hands). Once I pushed the button until '23' was displayed, hold it in about 10 seconds, the world Unlock appears, I pushed until 23 was displayed again, held the button for 10 seconds and then all of the features could be accessed. The only thing that I could actually do where I saw a result was position the HUD up and down but I can also do that form the iDrive. Just tough tI'd through it out there.

Besides seeing a bunch of informational stuff like system ID and manufacture date there isn't much. You can adjust the height of the display and rotate it Clockwise (CW) and Counter-Clockwise (CCW) in the Rotation menu at 5 degree increments. That is all I have found so far.

But, if they hold it back, someone will pay extra buck$ if they really want it. They drive the consumer with the mean$ into the next cost category and higher profit$ for BMW. Last edited by teagueAMX; 10-12-2009 at 04:38 PM.. |

Guess I'm resurrecting an old thread here but I've stumbled on this and am running in to a little trouble. I am able to get into the menu and get to the point of entering the sum of the last 5 digits of my VIN (22 in my case). But I can't figure out how to proceed from there. I've tried holding in the HUD button for 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 15 seconds, 20 seconds and 30 seconds but in every case the HUD just turns off. How is the right thing to do after entering the digits?
