After the dust settles and I no longer feel the pain of my latest indulgence (uh... investment). I might give LED taillights another thought.

Gaseous odors fill up my garage each time I enter or leave and my wife complains bout it. I also didn't notice any significant power difference between "tune only" and the addition of "downpipes and revised tune". It just felt different? ie; rubber band acceleration is gone, but exact same result when I go heads up with my buddys "non-tuned" X5M (Mine walks, but dosent run away from the other X5M like the "tuned" M4 runs away from the "Non-tuned M4" in Nicks video:

Were my expectation was too high? Not according to the video.
I talked to AA about this and they're solution was to sent me an OBDII code reader for an additional $90.... Not sure what information that this devise will deliver to them in order to help them revise my tune... Seems like data logging or an all-wheel dyno would have been the better answer?


I also talked to Jordan at Velos about their tune... he said that their tune would all but eliminate the gaseous odor, but I would have to toss the tune I already have a significant investment in and completely start over with their tuning package.

There is a silver lining to DPs, however; The car sounds much more awesome and that excessive volcanic heat buildup in the engine bay is now a thing of the past.

I currently have the X5M brakes for sale in the classifieds, but we are considering an X5 35d for my wife to DD....
Maybe I should reserve the big ///M brakes for her new car?

Definitely. Especially if the D ends up needing brakes at or shortly after purchase.

You should update your signature line and remove the LED halos now that you're rocking the real thing

Got the X5 35d for my wife's daily duties. The interior is the best part; It already has sport seats and sport steering wheel. It doesn't need brakes (so X5M big brake kit is out), but I've already started thinking about upgrading it with a few other mods.... At first, I thought about doing a full-on Msport kit and 22" wheels, but I'll more than likely try to keep it simple by adding 20" style 214 wheels, black grills, some legal tint, possibly a tune and be done with it.

Newbie question, but which ones are the upgrades? My 2010 has the lower taillights, I think they look fine as is, so what's the benefit of people upgrading their taillights?

My truck is the one in the bottom photograph. It currently has the pre-LCI taillights. Most people seem to prefer the later design in order to update the appearance of their vehicles.
I think that you are the only one besides me that happens to like the original style.

I'm OK with the originals. But now that I have another E70 with taillights that are a little tired and faded, I may have to opt for a set of LCIs just to differentiate the the two.
