ever failing turbo aux water pump..?

2011 x5m with 90k
I have now had the Turbo aux pump replaced 3 times within 4month. So far this has been done by the BMW dealer for free under the extended CA turbo warranty.

Last time it failed within days of picking the car up from the dealer. (a week ago)
It sounds like grinding crackling noise after the car is turned off.

BMW dealer says he has no idea why it keeps failing, and the extended warranty has now run out and he wont replace it for free any more. any ideas on what could keep causing this failure?

my uneducated opinion is that air is getting in to the system somehow

Definitely time for a new dealer regardless.
