08' X5 vs 11' Reliability - Advice
Hi,
I sold my 09' 328i RWD. Looking for either an x5 E70 or x3 F25. Thoughts? I prefer the E platform cars for quality, handling, steering response. I found two cars: 08' 29k miles $26k. 11' 34k miles $34 35i The question is : is the 11' much better in terms of less problems and reliability and longevity? I do not really care for the extra power, but priority is a good working car! Any advice is appreciated and sorry for my confusing post. http://www.bmwoftenafly.com/detail-2...-11672995.html http://www.bmwoftenafly.com/detail-2...-11587714.html |

The 2008 has the NA N52 engine whereas the 2011 has the N55 with turbo. In theory NA engines tend to be less finicky and more reliable, but in terms of overall (electronics etc) 'problems' the newer the car, the better. If you're really that concerned about reliability and longevity then I'd suggest you up your budget and buy new(er) or change brands altogether.

When I bought the X last month, we test drove pre and LCI and in direct comparison the pre LCI seems build with lower quality.
My wife drove 500 feet the pre LCI 3.0l to turn around with the words: "There is no power" and we bought the '11 Diesel. My points for the LCI are: - GPS is way way nicer, faster and has a HDD - LED - better looking body - better quality |
