Hadn't heard that turbo oil lines leak (but it's a common BMW issue), but I can tell you the coolant lines sure do. Injector failures (warrantied until 12 yrs/120k by BMW). Alternators like to do at 50-70k miles, power steering pumps that are noisy (adaptive drive issue). Supposedly valve stem seals are an issue as they are on any BMW v8. Test by letting it idle for 5 mins when fully warmed and floor it and see if there is smoke. It's less of a problem on the s63s likely because of their lower operating temps. On n62/63 motors with their higher temps (218-226f), they begin to,fail in the 60-90k region.
In general they seem to be more reliable than the n63s, and most issues are few and far between except the turbo oil coolant lines. Their just a crap design and fialmever 10 |
