I was just wondering if anybody is using this kind of tires on their vehicle. I just want to know the tire setup you guys have on stock 20" wheels. Thanks

I have these on my other car, not the X5. I absolutely love them, they are very grippy and never nervous when wet. The only thing i will say is that they are pretty soft so a set of them doesn't last very long, but comparing the performance level offered, nothing in the category lasts long.

the thing to note is that there isn't a 275/40/20 for PSS, out of what's avaiable, probably 295/35/20 is the one that comes the closest in rolling diameter

Thanks for the info. I was just reading the details of this tire rim width min/maximums, those sort of things. I thought it will work.

I have never seen anybody put PSS on a X5 and I don't believe you can get PSS that will fit.. I am pretty sure that PSS's are not rated for the load which is required for a X5. The X5 is quite heavy and requires a tire which can handle the loads which will be placed on the tire during all driving conditions. I would speak to a tire person before you purchase a set of PSS for your X.

load shouldn't be an issue with PSS, the rear 315s are 110 load, and front 295s are 105 if you select the right one. in comparison, the OEM bridgestone are 110 rear and 106 front

Upsizing is harder to do on AWD vehicles as you really need to keep the diameters the same, or at least very close. For this reason I don't think there is a PSS combo that will work with the staggered X5 wheels.

295/35/20 = 740 revs per mile
315/35/20 = 726 revs per mile

^ almost a 2% rotating difference. What's the max discrepancy allowed by xDrive?

I'm not sure what the max variance is, but even on staggered setups the OEM BMW tires are exactly the same front/rear.

I really hope that the high performance tire companies start coming out with more PEFORMANCE SUV options. After all, wheels are getting bigger on cars from factory and the US market is flooded with SUVs. But the X5/6M wheel set up is massive and a tough staggered set up to find.

Disappointing to say the least.

No way would I do that to my xdrive system - just asking for trouble.

Shouldn't the revs per mile be exactly the same in the above set-up or am I missing something here?

The rim size is the same (20"), and the sidewall is the same (35). Thus the diameter of the tire + rim should be the same resulting in equal revs per mile, right? The only thing that's different is the width (295 vs 315), but that shouldn't have any impact on how many revolutions the tire makes per mile.

no - a 35 sidewall on a 295 tire is not the same as a 35 sidewall on a 315 tire - it's a proportion.

That's why OEM is 275/40 front and and 315/35 rear - it yields the same circumference tire.

SSR is a run flat. I have conti 5ps on my E90 and they are great. Way better than conti 3s.

I don't know what the SSR will feel like in comparison but my 5ps are a little greasy when you first driving the car. You gotta get them warmed up at least from an RWD standpoint.

Great handling, love them in the rain or wet weather, very good stopping and handling.
