Need some help please!

2008 BMW X5 3.0
Rough idle on startup. Bounces all around between 7-12 rpms.. After the vehicle has warmed it settles down.

I replaced all coils and spark plugs.
Pulled and cleaned Vanos solenoids.

Wondering if someone can point me in the right direction.

Any error codes?

Did you jump the solenoids with a little battery to see if they opened/closed?
But yes, pull some codes with a BMW specific tool.

I don't think these are related but I have two codes -

KLIMA [IHKA70] | E723: No message
(condensation sensor, Ox2D1), receiver
integrated automatic heating / air
conditioning system, transmitter roof function
centre
KLIMA [IHKA70] | E729: No message
(automatic air recirculation control sensor,
Ox2D0), receiver integrated automatic
heating / air conditioning system, transmitter

It happens on cold start. I have increased the idle speed so it runs at higher idle which somewhat fixes the problem but I know that isn't the right fix. I have shutdown individual injectors one at a time and they all seem to be working properly. I did not test the vanos solenoids with a battery so maybe I'll go back and do that. They looked pretty good but obviously they may not be functioning right. Any other ideas?

Yeah, those codes don't look related.

There are also the VANOS filters/check valves on the sides, maybe pull them and make sure they're not plugged up? And last bit of totally generic advice is check your oil filter cap and make sure the central lattice screen is attached and the filter isn't collapsed. Beyond that, I got nothing...

According to FCP, they are just on N52 and N54 engines, so a 2011 with an N55 does not have them.
