Burger Stage 1 or MHD Stage 1+
Hi
Which is better, In terms of power and reliability? My car is all stock n55 2011 x6 (Posted this here since the x5 forum is more active) I've been reading many posts, lots of positive comments with Burger stage 1, and its been around for a long long time, many people use it. and its easy plug and play. For MHD Stage 1+, also good, but I've read some who had slight errors, like the car not being smooth, but it seems to be fixed by updating to a newer version of the app, also seems to produce more power compared to Burger stage 1? if ever I go with MHD, still have no plans to use MHD Stage 2/2+ since car is all stock. but if i upgrade to aluminum CP, then I might think about it. Would like to know your experiences. PS. any other good aluminum charge pipes besides VRSF? cause i've checked BMS website, they don't seem to have an available upgraded charge pipe for E70/71 Thanks guys! Running MHD Stage 1+... Be prepared to swap out new plugs and/or coils from increased load on the engine. Best you swap before tune unless you like to visit the shop every week lol. I learned the hard way but been able to run the flash okay since fixing misfires. Btw, Stage 2 is for upgraded downpipes so if you're stock stick to Stage 1.

what about N55 engine that already has +15 HP from the factory (I have 2013 X5 35i M-Sport package)? Is it safe to add any of these tuning to my engine without running into issues?
I asked BurgerTuning but got no answer to that |

I'll have to agree with everyone else here in that MHD is the better option at this time.
ER also makes a chargepipe. The F10 N55 chargepipes fit the E7X N55 X5/X6. |

I've got the BMS stage 1 tuner and I can definitely tell a difference. Faster acceleration (about .5 of a second off my 0-60) and the sensitivity of the pedal to acceleration is increased. What felt like 60 mph is now like 70/80mph. It's noticeable but not crazy. Super easy to install/uninstall. Worth the price for sure. I do think it'd be smart to pair this with a new intake so the engine is getting enough air.

I'm currently running the MHD Stg 2 all stock compents with zero issues. I plan on later swapping out the OE plugs due to maintenence coming up. I've previously owned 2x 335i vehicles using JB4 G5's and I switched to MHD. Personally, I truly enjoy MHD and seen better results. It's been years so no dyno graphs available but I'm sure other forums can show dyno numbers showing the difference.

I had the BMS Stage 1 in (2013 X5 35i M package) and took it out for warranty repairs. It worked very well, and is probably available for sale if anyone needs it.
I'm currently using the JB+ that I had intended for my M2 in the X5, and that works well enough for now. |

bigger the gap, car felt more blahhh. mpg was tad better and engine was a tad smoother, bu drove like blah. smaller gap helped with throttle response, engine feels more alive. Last edited by racermp; 07-04-2018 at 03:42 AM.. |

Personally - I went Cobb on my X5. Don't need access to the additional tables MHD opens up for my daily driver, and I like having a dedicated box to display temps (I tow my boat with it).
Yes - I know MHD is "better" than Cobb. I run it on my n54 135i.

Hi Need some help guys
I just tuned my n55 while ago Stage 2 91oct was able to run few miles power gain was noticeable most specially on sport/M2 but I suddenly got ENGINE FAULT 1. Tuned the car version 1.24 2. Options: Burble normal 1 sec, sport 3 sec.OEM DP, Remove speed limiter 2. after tuning, Left the car idle for few minutes so that i can get to proper temp 3. Was really excited, Ran the car few miles, starting from moderate to aggressive, tried normal, sport and manual. 4. burble sounds good 5. car ran well, temp on dash board was same as normal went home 6. tuned the car again because i wanted to hear what the burble sound like on 5 secs. 7. after tuning, started the car, suddenly got ENGINE FAULT Reduced power warning. 8. engine seem to be vibrating weird 9. flashed to Stage 0 10. still have engine fault 11. flashed back to stage 2 same Options as the one I test drove with: Burble normal 1 sec, sport 3 sec.OEM DP, Remove speed limiter. 12. Still Engine fault what to do? pls help Thanks |

Sorry I'm a beginner at this
1. I had these codes ENGINE FAULT light, engine have unstable rpm, like its having a hard time 'breathing''. -DME active codes- 2DCE - Valvetronic System: No adjustment possible. - DME Shadow (inactive) codes- 2DD0 - Valvetronic system: Control deviation warning threshold exceeded. 2E11 - Valvetronic system: bottom limit position learned 2. Then, After about 2 hours I started the car, still have engine fault light, reduced power and unstable rpm 3. I wanted to check using other method so, I plugged in ELM327 to check the code, no code found, (I used an apple app for ELM327) I restarted the car, Engine Fault suddenly disappeared for no reason. I did not clear or do anything. 4. Plugged back MHD app, no engine fault light 5. Using MHD app - (I reset the all the adaptations I forgot if i had reset adaptations first or I had the new active code DME 2E0F , I forgot which happened first cause i was tensed that time) DME Active Codes 2E0F - Valvetronic system: deactivated, adjustment fault too frequent DME Shadow (inactive) Codes 2DD0Valvetronic system: Control deviation warning threshold exceeded. 6. I restarted the car again to check if engine fault was there, No engine fault 7. Then finally had this: DME Active Codes 2E0F - Valvetronic system: deactivated, adjustment fault too frequent No shadow inactive code 8. I decided to Flash it back to stock (remove MHD) then I checked the codes again, there was no DME codes after flashing back to stock, no engine fault. But, I dont dare to drive it, I just started it and let it idle. I noticed there seem to be a new "clicking noise", that wasn't there before i did this tune PS. is Valvetronic and Vanos the same? because I knew that N55 engines had a VANOS recall regarding the bolts loosening/ shearing off. But I already had it done by the dealer many years ago. But now that this had happened, Im starting to question if they really did the repair on the vanos recall or not. quite concerned cause i've read some threads regarding Vanos bolts failing and causing major damage to engine. cause most of the vanos problems ive read have some sort of tune in their n55 thanks. hope someone could help |
