i am confused. originally the us camera options on the 2010 x6 were backup camera with topdown view. now the 2011 its backup camera with sideview. does this mean no top down? I am really wondering if on the 2011 the sideview simply replaced the topdown. I would really be dissappointed it that was the case. I really wanted to see the tires in relation to the curb backing up. with backup camera only this in gonna be a problem

not the case scottjays. 2011 has side view, top view AND backup cameras. So you get to see not only the back and side of the car, but also the front sides which is really handy when manouvering in tight spots.

The question now is, can I retro fit the side view cameras after i get the car since mine will not be coming with it??

my dealer is waiting to hear if sideview is delayed. I can live without. as far as retrofit, i guess anything is possible. but i gotta believe it would be far more $ than factory. I wanted to order the 7RR perf package. dealer is saying not avail for 2011, as it's a software only upgrade that dealer will perform in June. still don't have price on that. and i know it's gonna be more $ than the 2010 factory option.

Definitely glad My side view cameras are cancelled:

See picture of the new X5 with side view cameras.

http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/index/0,,...-bmwuk,00.html

I am note sure how they will look on the X6 however IMO the camera on the front bumper on the X5 spoils the look of the vehicle.
Am I alone in this?

I don't think it looks that bad. but I haven't seen them in person. all I really know is i don't care if the side view cams are present or not, I just want the vehicle to be delivered in April.

I originally had the roof rails but deleted them as I decided that I prefer the clean roofline look (More Coupe than SUV)

I also deleted
5DK Side-view cameras
As it is not available until build week 24 ( I did not want to wait another 10 weeks for side view cameras)

I think that I possible have a week or so to tinker with the final spec before the vehicle goes confirmed and VIN number is issued.

I am still considering the sunroof as an option however my thoughts on the sun roof are:

Pros:
Increased light
Cons:
Ruins the clean roof line
Sun roof is too small
Wind Noise when open
No need for Sunroof when you have air con

Any Thoughts Opinions or Advise?

Any must have option missing from my spec ?
Adaptive drive is the obvious one but sadly no longer available for UK LHD Deisel X6.
I am also still debating on whether the running boards are a good thing or a bad thing I am becoming more of the opinion that the vehicle looks better without the running boards ...hmmmm!
Alos considering the through load ski-bag.

Can't wait until may - Hopefully i won't miss the M3 Conv too much.
Make sure you post us pictures of your new car! We want lots of pictures from every angle!
