SOLD - for $50,500! 2013 X5M at Manheim autions

There's a 2013 X5M at Manheim Ohio auctions.

Car came off a 2 year lease, sold and serviced at A&L BMW in Pittsburgh. Dealer claims they didn't keep it because red BMW (M) cars do not sell in the winter ...

Anyone interested, PM me. My friend with a dealers license might be able to help you buy it at auction.

Yes, 777man was looking for MR/Bamboo/ventilated seats (which this X has). I replied to his thread and sent him a PM. If he's still looking, hopefully he sees one of them being this is an auction car and likely won't be around long.

Hey guys, thanks for keeping me in mind. I actually found the car and Pax and I have been talking for a few days about it. And, I also talked to the dealer about how the car ended at auction. This is exactly what I was looking for but logistically I can't make it work.

My only concern with the truck is that is was driven in the winter in Pittsburgh as the original owner had a winter tire setup that the dealer changed out for him each year. Also, there is one small paint blemish on the front bumper where something scratched it (see pic). I have the CarFax if anyone wants it send me a PM.

I wouldn't sweat the winters - its a 2013 - it went through what, 2 winters? Not like it has been out in the northeast for 10 years.

It is a used car - except to do some cosmetic repairs - if it's a good deal consider it.

I repainted both my X6's front/rear bumpers but I got good deal on the truck at the time.

Remember, you drive it it will get chipped up anyway, as much as I hate to say it.

Pretty much this. A used car is a used car, it will come with chips, scratches, etc. This is why it's cheaper than new...

Hmm, I don't know about that? I had a PPI done on a 2 year old X5 here in Seattle that was from NJ (purchased through auction by a local non-BMW dealer) and the entire underside was corroded/rusting.

Agree with you regarding the scratches - if you can't live with those you should be buying new.

Wouldn't this be covered by their corrosion warranty then which goes for at least 10 years?

Edit: just looked it up. 12 year, unlimited mile rust / corrosion warranty.

Good question - I think we let those in the NE answer it though.

To me, it seems highly unlikely BMW is going to cover corrosion on a vehicle that was driven in NE winters with salt on the roads, but I could be wrong. Definitely never read anything on the forums about owners getting warranty coverage because they lived in the NE and their BMW underside's corroded? I think what you're reading is regarding different circumstances.

PAX5, that car is beautiful. My wife and I just bought a 2012 X5M. These cars are amazing. Dayamn I love that in red with the tan interior. It also has all the bells and whistles, vented seats, front sideview cams, and low mileage.

Keep us posted I'd love to know what it goes for.
Thanks, John

You can buy it and sell your car to 777man above ...

What color, miles, options etc does yours have?

You are wrong. BMW's 12 year corrosion warranty is not region specific. That would be an impossibility to manage ... It's the same warranty nationwide.

I didn't say it was region specific. I mentioned the NE because this region will have far more rust/corrosion than anywhere else in the U.S.

So what is covered? Don't all vehicles rust in that region over time (before 12 years)?

With the ridiculous amounts of brine along with salt they're putting down on NYC streets thanks to this blizzard, if you don't wash your car/truck within 24hrs of driving on that garbage, your car won't just rust it rots! BMW should extend this past 12 years for those of us that have to drive in snow

That won't be happening. Mine has a crack about an inch long in one of the headlights. He wouldn't be able to live with that.

It is a White 2012 with black interior with 53k miles. It has every option we wanted and looks like new. You guys that are vin experts can dissect it....LK27764. We bought it from Fresno BMW and getting it to Seattle was a bit of a PITA but I am thrilled with it. When I get it clean I will post some pictures.

For what is worth: snow/ salt 's effect on x5/6 depend on how the owner up keep the truck. Mine doesn't have much rust in the underbody at all and I am in Toronto.

I can't say the same about traditional body on frame trucks that don't have the same rust resistance.

Dchl, thanks for jumping into a thread in which you know nothing about. I could not make the purchase of the truck work for me logistically. If you must know..........

I am currently in Europe on a two week business trip, returning home for a week and then to Seattle for a week. The truck crosses the auction block while I am in Europe.

My travel schedule is always crazy after the New Year and there was no way that I could get to the truck, get it paid for and shipped home while traveling. Brokers aren't too crazy about holding a $55k bill for a month waiting for me to get back home. Complicating matters even more is that he and I are in two different cities.

FWIW several board members have contacted me about the particulars of the truck and I have responded to all. So, I am fairly sure that one of the members here will get the truck. I mentioned the scratch and winter setup as that was how the truck was presented to me. Just wanted to make sure that any purchasers were aware of any potential issues.

Maybe when the next one pops up I will be able to make it work.
