Squealing Brakes
For the past 3-4 months, my brakes have been insanely squealy when braking. There's a very slight spot on the brake pedal that keeps them from squealing, but any more or any less pressure and it's squeal-city. The noise happens at ANY speed fast or slow. Dealership looked at the rotors and said there's nothing they can do since they're well within spec. Car has about 32K miles and I'm pretty easy on the car 95% of the time.
Anyone have some ideas what could fix this problem? |

Same issue and I got same explanation from the dealer, but they still disassembled, cleaned and lubricated them but the problem has not been resolved.

Mine makes squealing noises during the 1st quarter of brake travel when it gets VERY cold outside.

Sounds like it's not an uncommon issue here... I cringe every time I'm in a parking garage.

Easy fix, hard to do.... I know a contradiction of terms...
Find a stretch of road to perform the following: Brake from with moderate to hard pressure - 60-10MPH Do it 10 times. Not 6, Not 8. But 10 times. Do NOT allow your brakes to cool inbetween stops. At most 30sec... Then on your cool down run, after its all done.. Drive at a normal pace. Your brakes will be smoking, literally. Try to just cruise at a constant speed for at least 5 min to cool down, avoid complete stops. |

It "beds" the brakes. In reality your brakes work best when the pad is pressed against a layer of pad material that gets deposited on the rotor. It takes heat to make that happen. how much heat depends on the make up of the pads.
They put pretty aggressive pads on these because of the power and the weight. If you drive lightly with these pads they don't deposit the material on the rotor and you get pad to metal contact. Which squeals because these have semi metallic pads i.e. little slivers of metal in the pad to help transfer heat. Bedding in the pads transfers pad material but as you drive around afterwards they will scrub the rotors back down so you'll have to do it occasially or drive like a crack head. If you'd like to know more Stoptech has a good article:http://stoptech.com/technical-suppor...ake-pad-bed-in |

ALSO - DO NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP - Keep it rolling from that 10 MPH...keep repeating the process like he said 10x. Cool down period is must as well...otherwise if you come to a complete stop while bedding in your brakes when they're hot you WILL surely transfer pad material to the rotor in one spot in which you'll get a warped rotor feeling when braking.
