Aluminum running boards: OEM Vs Reps

Does anybody know if there is any significant difference between the two? e.g. looks, quality & durability? I'm looking to purchase a set for my wifes E70and I have noticed the reps are significantly cheaper than the OEMs. Does anybody have a set of reps and would like to chime in?

Everything I read said they didn't fit.
Also in reading it more people were trying to get rid of them
They are the same height as the bottom of the door so they do not even allow you to step up easier and they make your pant legs dirty in the rain.
It's not like try are 6 inches lower to help you get in the car. It is literally the same height as stepping up if there wasn't a step

Yeah, I know theres alot of negative talk about them, however I think they compliment the E70 well. I guess if I run across a good deal, I'll pick me up a set. I'll go the OEM route!
