Purchased a 2011 35d
Love it so far. torque is very useful and enjoyable. traded our 328 xdrive for this since its our family car. i have a ford platinum as my daily and a BMW z4m as a summer toy.
few mods already installed are front and rear spacers, DTEC v7's, LED fogs, LED plate lights, toyo gi5 winters, and tint. waiting on some color match grilles and sidemarkers as well. deciding what wheels i should go with for the summer now. and some of the other toys and old 328

How do the rides differ between the Ford and X5 ?
Kinda thinking about going to a big car and wondering suv or pick-up… Is Ford more floaty and numb?? How about in terms of comfort over long distance travel? Oh, I've always admired your m coupe and nice photos!!

the ford is stiffer and a bit harsher. x5 is more planted and less rugged. steering and response is obvioulsy better in the x5 as well, but thats to be expected. my ford is also lifted with 35" tires 10 ply, so that alone stiffens up the ride fro factory

so i caved and bought some wheels. a few members here have the 22" x6m wheels already, so i felt like mixing it up and getting some bmw performance style wheels instead. kidneys also arrived. i decided to have the rim colormatched and the slats gloss black to match the window trim. i have decided im going to get the aero kit just not sure i want to lower it yet.
really impressed with both product and service from IND for the painted sidemarkers. i know they are just small trim pieces but their communication and overall purchase experience was great and very professional and organized.

very nice again! drop it 2" all around with H&R and it will look and handle even better. It's funny everybody do the same things (almost) buy the same parts from same vendors I guess this is a good thing. I also bought side markers (front and rear plus kidneys from IND) Also buying 22" 300m (yes ) wheels, H&R springs and spacers, fender extensions and then the aero kit will come )). I'm just waiting for the spring, can't have low profile right not with the amount of snow we getting every other day

i just ordered the aerokit, and still not sure about lowering it. i really dont wanna change the ride of the car. mine does not have rear leveling, but its a sports package, and the front and rear are 1/2"-3/4" lower than a typical x5.

what comes with sport package? I'm a little confused, I know M package, not your case. btw where did you order the wheels and aero kit from, I'm going to order myself and looking around for best place to order. Did u have fender flares installed when you bought the car, did it come with 20" wheels as well?

The sport package comes with flares, lower suspension, sport seats ( I also have comfort seats), black headliner, sport steering wheel, gloss black window trim...and a few other small things. The 20" wheels are a separate option on top of sport package

I see now, thx for the lesson. Sounds like u already lowered... maybe you should stay away from lowering it even more (don't want to rub those beautiful new tires)

Nice choice on the wheels. For tires and wheels at $2,100 you cannot really beat it. I had thought about them also, but they are a bit "busy" for my taste. I might mentally break if I had to keep them clean!

They really are not bad. Also helps if u have some akebono low dust pads. I put them on all my daily driver vehicles.

What sizes spacers you running? I'm looking at H&R spacers and springs from ECS tuning (they seems to have better prices). Looking at wheels/tires set from Wheelproz ($2145 without TPMS). For aero kit probably at getbmw parts.

i am using 12.5mm and 20mm ecs brand spacers. perfect fitment IMO. my wheels are from wheeltech without tpms because BMW Canada uses rotation sensors rather than tpms senors, so i dont need any.

Love these wheels. So much so I've been considering them myself for a daily driving run flat option. |
