LUX V3 X5M Install
I received a set of Lux V3's today that another member couldn't get to fit. I tried to fit them and sadly they did not fit. However I could see what the 2 problems were, I modified them and they fit. Took me about 1 hour per side.
It was a fairly simply procedure as long as you have an air compressor, air cut off/die grinder attachment, eye protection, a flashlight and medium size pipe pliers. Here are some pics Comparison Stock Lux V3 Done Last edited by STIto335; 05-04-2011 at 02:59 PM.. |

Obviously i'd like to be unique and have the only set on a X5M but I am not going to hold out on your guys
My first set was a hack job to say the least but it doesn't matter because no one sees them, I am going to be able to make them much cleaner from now on. Okay 3 problems with them 1. The first 3 rows of heat sinks need to be cut down to about the same radius as the piece that holds the o-ring in place, only for half. However both sides need to be reduced in different places. 2. The piece that i mentioned before that holds the o-ring also needs to be reduced for 3/4 of the way around 3. Thinner O-ring, I did not use a thinner o-ring but if you are going to do this i'd recommend it because i needed to use pliers to turn them into place.
