Another winter setup question

Hey guys,
I ordered an X5 35i sport activity a couple weeks ago. I've been told it's in Status: 152 - Entry Paint Shop
so I'm expecting the car soon.
I wanted to get a winter setup and was looking towards 19". I've read some people using 20" with winter tires on the boards. My question was, how much of a difference is there between 19" with winter tires and 20" with winter tires? If I can get into 20" wheels, that'll open up some wheel options for me. But if the difference is significant, I would prefer to go with 19".
Any input would be appreciated!

IMO...(a life time Michigan/Minnesota boy, now living in KY), Northern VA doesn't get that much snow, and probably when ya do it's most often a few inches...Sooooo, 20's don't make a difference. HOWEVER...winter tire selection is MUCH greater in the 19's. I have a second set of 20's for the winter and I only have 1 tire option...Pirelli Scor. It's a good one but it's the only one in a 315mm rear!

Just something to consider.

Do you have your winter setup on staggered wheels?

Yes, but I only put the rears on if we're gonna get 8+ inches, otherwise I just run the Conti DWS on the rear with snows on the front. Last year I never put the rears on.

The problem is not acceleration...it's braking. The truck accelerates like crazy even with summer tires, it just wont stop! Everyone says I will loose the rear end in a turn with a missed-matched set...and I say...Bla, Bla, Bla! I got more time backin up in the snow than most have going forward!

To help with the braking...use manual tranny!

Good luck!
