iDrive knob
Just bought an 07 BMW X5. I have intermittent issues with the iDrive knob. It scrolls left and right, but only wants to work occasionally when I press "enter", or down on the device. Can this be fixed? It's my only gripe with this car.

If the cars under warranty take it in. If not I would just replace the controller with a new one. Would only take 5 minutes to replace and does not require programming. Simple plug and play.

Newer controller replacement
Is it really simple to replace the newer controllers as well? I just bought a 2010 X5M and the controller is cosmetically damaged - it works fine but the ring around the bottom of the controller by the buttons is dented up. The dealer claims they have to remove the whole console and would cost ~$500 for labor. Do you think it is something I could do myself? Thanks

I'm having the same problem right now but I'm too crazy about it at the moment. As long as my music still works It's all good! lol But yea it is going to be pretty pricey.
