Navi update on 2012-13?
Has anybody updated their navi to 2014 on the 2012-13 cars? If yes is there a difference than the older version besides road updates.
Meaning is the color display different.. Please post a pic if possible thanks |

Usually, the updates are new roads and locations being added.
I have never seen any updates where the UI and graphics changed.. It's possible, but I have never noticed any. |

Because the latest version maps don't allow the same graphics on the older Nav system either. It just updates the roads ( new road names, constructions, etc.) Unless you absolutely need it, it would be a waste of money. When I first got my 2013 X5 in April of 2012.. I had the 2012 Map.. I got a 2013 map update during the summer for free of charge... otherwise I would have not gotten it. |

If the update was packed with different features then $50 or even $250 is well spent.. Otherwise, I would rather spend it on 2/3rds tank of gas... |

In addition, at my exit, the changes have been made to the first intersection you come to after you exit - major changes that include a new overpass and a completely redesigned intersection. They are all on the new maps. And umm...do you never go out of your neighborhood? No long trips that need Nav? I do and I want to be told to go the right way. $50. I spend that on beer on a Friday night lol.

I understand $50.00 is not really that much money these days.. I blow it all the time on food and drinks as well and even more.... my point was for some people the update is minor and would not benefit from it.. hence my comment about throwing money away..
I travel outside of my neighborhood... but understand that in my neck of the woods.. ( NYC metro area ) it is likely shorter distance than yours... where you might have to travel 15 - 20 miles to go to one restaurant versus 5 miles here.. Just like you said it depends on where you are located.. but I find it hard to believe majority of places will have updated and or redesigned their roadways in the past year... Like I said if the update was packed with new features and or graphics.. then yes.. it woul dbe worth it.. but if the new update just added some new roads in places you don't even drive near by no... its a waste of money. |

I'm confused,
There are 2 part numbers: 65902304629 CIC Map Update $ 170.93 65902338094 USB for Update $ 37.28 Is only the -8094 part required? BMW and some other web sites say both are required to update the maps for my 2012 X5.

I have no idea if CIC has been updated. Is there a way to tell in iDrive?
