Car and Driver picks X5M first, over Cayenne Turbo S and competitors
The January 2010 issue picks the X5M over the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, and the Range Rover Sport Supercharged (in that order).
The Bimmer in the final analysis won by a huge gap. The performance numbers were staggering. ------------------ 0-60----0-100---quarter X5M--------------- 4.0------10.0----12.5@112 Cayenne Turbo S-4.1------10.1----12.6@112 Jeep----------------4.4------11.8-----13.2@104 RR------------------ 5.1------12.4-----13.7@104

Great now us M3 guys have to watch out for these things.
New M5 is going to be a beast with this engine! Not saying the X5M isnt already.

Wow!
I knew this review was coming, and when I picked up my C&D from the mail I had the hugest grin on my face Although I am torn in between the X6M and X5M!!! The X5M is 4.0 seconds flat!, Imagine if the X6M can do it in 3.9sec that would be exotic supercar territory |

Sat in a M x5 at the dealership while my m3 was in service. wow what a great truck with speed and torque, and practicality. Inside and out it looks amazing. Just traded my 08 srt8 gc in for an M3 08 E90 (used)
the srt8 was a great truck 0-60 in the mid 4's but handling in corners was horrible. interior compared to the mx5 was night and day, the jeep was a lot of plastic and cheap materials, and we all know what the mx5 looks like on the inside. The other reason i purchased the srt8at the time, was the price i paid $43k compared to the cayenne turbo being the only one on the market at the time to challenge it in hp and torque but being more then double in price. Had my fun with the jeep but now i have a great car in the m3. |
