Cool

Run it in and it will give good service, Mine has covered 7K now and is returning 37MPG cruising. I am impressed.

Check your owners manual. You should definitely break the car in first (I think it's something like 2000km) before you start pushing the engine hard. It may have an impact on your warranty if you don't follow the instructions as outlined in the owners manual.

Also, your tires and breaks need some time to break in as well. Tires will perform better once you drove on them for a bit. If you do sudden stops or break too hard before your tires are broken in properly, they can slip on the rims!

hmmm, alright I guess I will need to break in then I can full throttle it later. I will do an oil change at 3000km just in case. After 3k kms I will full throttle.

1st oil change

Since warranty does not require oil change @ 3000-5000km u'll have to pay to get it done.
At my 1st oil change recently, I tried to get the dealer to put in castrol edge synthetic, or use motor oil for the m engines, & even pay the difference,
again they say it's unnecessary as they use bmw synthetic made by castrol for the x6. Dealers just do it by the book so as not to void warranty by errors on their part.
It's like trying to get a bank to admit that they made a mistake in writing!
I'll have to find a dealer who would let me pay for M engine motor oil or use my own Castrol Edge synthetic.
Anyone with similar Xperience?

With synthetic oil the old 3k oil change thing really isn't neccesary. Besides when it needs an oil change it will "phone home" and the dealer will call you (at least in US).

2008 vs 2009 X6 35i

Is there any different between 2008 and 2009 model? The sales staff told me is the same but I do not believe it.

Just try to rev the car at no more than 3500 RPM's, I asume your car is 3.0d Diesel, same as mine, changing gears at 3500rpms it is good enough to feel the torque of the engine , so you wont "suffer" too much on your first 1000Kms.
In Costa Rica due to the bad quality of the Diesel, the first oil change is scheduled at 8000Kms instead of 16000

The car is basically the same. The only changes between the 2008 and 2009 models were the options. Since the model was introduced in 2008, it would be to soon to already do any major (or minor for that matter) styling, chassis, engine, or whatever changes!

I got my 3.0d and I drove it first 1000km below 2500rpm after that gradually incresed to full power... and my on board comp. says oil change was at 30000km now drooped to 27000... Dealer says at 20000km. so will see...

The service period moves changes depending on how hard you drive the car, if you keep pushing the RPM's high, service period will decrease, but IMO the most important thing is to go with the dealer instructions, here in Costa Rica our Diesel is poor, so the first oil change must be done at 8000Kms and the car says at 18,000, but dealer is asking that because they dont want trouble with dirty oil.

If your dealer insists on it and they cover it under warranty at no charge to you, why not
