Tow hitch software!

I called El Paso BMW today and asked how much it would cost to install a OEM hitch if I brought my own parts. I was quoted $420 and it would take up to a day to install the software. Does that sound right?

My labor was $624, and it was installed prior to delivery so I'm uncertain of the time required. I was probably raped on the install, but my options are very limited in the area.

$420 sounds fair but not great...it's not a job u want them to rush..

It's probably 2.5 for the install and 2.0 for the re-flash. Personally I don't like paying more than an hour to do a computer update no matter how long it takes.

They probably say a day because they say the re-flash could take up to 8 hrs, but in all actual...2 hrs normal.

My re-flash took 2.5 hrs and they had to make the connections with the wire harness (which I installed when I did the hitch, so no big deal) and they charged $180.

Just make sure you tell them "you want the Michelangelo of the group" to do it.

You guys realized that the install document calls for 2.5 hours labour including programming.
