the only thing I do not like about these is the fact you need to re-oil'em every now and again and I hear sometimes this oil causes problems, but let's see...

I installed mine last Friday and it simple to install. You have to remove the entire air box assembly (removing the 4 front screws, plus loosen the two air inlet tubes).
Items to Note: -You won't feel a difference considering the gain is probably less then 5whp at certain rpm points (or 5-10 engine horsepower) at most. If a gain is achieved, it will be in the upper rpm range or when the turbo initially spools up. Given the engine management is controlling the air/fuel, timing and boost levels, the additional air flow will probably be cancelled out. -You won't hear an increase in noise (as seen on many cars) since you're still using the stock air box and considering the engine is turbocharged. -Assuming you drive the same after installation, you'll notice a slight increase in fuel economy, around 1-1.5mpg. Though this is doubtful since most will probably drive harder in order to "feel a difference" after installing the filter. |

True, however you'll need to quantify the impact of the air filter a log (or dyno) showing your new air/fuel ratio after the filter. The air/fuel log (or dyno) should also be at least a few days or reflect 20-50 miles of driving with the filter so the engine management can adapt properly.
Additionally, you should also log your air/fuel ratio (or dyno) after the modified tune and air filter in order to verify the changes were beneficial. If not, the changes could do more harm then good. |
