Sport Mode Is A Blast!!!

I rarely get to drive my wife's X6 and always foud it to be a bit burdened by the weight of the vehicle, by the way it is the 3.5i.
The other day I put it in sport mode for a while, WOW.......now we're talking.
Suddenly it came to life; there is actually a more linear correlation between your foot and the response of the car. Before somehow felt like there was a bit of a delay until the car would "lazily" respond.
I will only drive in Sport mode now.
It really is a defferent vehicle that is not only comfortable but is as much fun to drive s the looks suggest.
Remarkable what a flick of the shifter to the left will do. I highly recommend the experiment!

Hey Deda, I thought your X6 production time is week 43! Not the delivery time. You should enjoy delivery maybe early Jan.2009!

21 inches rims?!? I hope you never go to a remote chalet in the mountains on less than perfect roads on those rims.

PS: Since you mentioned some time ago that Dubrovnik hotels are waay to expensive, what kind of "expensive" you are talking about? I mean, a four star hotel in Dubrovnik costs what? Off season? In season? for a double room.

I'm still holding out till I hit 4000 km before touching that sport mode or the paddle shifts, although the idea is beyond tempting!! I just hit 2400 km and am slowly starting to abuse her little by little, my x6 that is!

wait wait wait, sport mode? maybe i am wrong here but that little "sport" button next to the stick is for changing the suspension feel, from sport to comfort, i dont think it has anything to do with acceleration and responsiveness.....?

If you push the shifter to the left when in "D" you
get sport mode ( S1,S2,etc). Which is what I think
Is being reference.

If you like that when you have it in sport mode try out manual mode.
Steptronic is very cool you can start out in first "M1" and if you don't upshift by the time it hits redline it will do it for you.

If you want to do any racing this is the mode to use, I know my old X5 would start off in 2nd gear in "D" mode and would down shift to 1st only if you stomped the pedal all the way (think this was true of some other BMWs). You would lose a second or so while it did that.

x6 Battery charging issue

Does anyone else have a problem with the clock resetting because of driving many short trips in an urban setting? In my situation, xdrive 35i, The starter & accessories(navigation, ipod/phone, heater/fan, wipers, daytime running lites etc., draw so much power, that if most of your trips are shorter than 5 km, the battery draws down & does not get a chance to fully recharge. Subsequent starting keeps discharging the battery. Then the clock resets itself to zero overnite. very annoying!

Yes, I am having the clock resetting issue as we speak. One of the more annoying aspects is it won't give me accessory power with the motor shut off. This is new behavior; the car was fine with the same usage for the first 5 months. I reported this issue when I brought the car in to have the iDrive display (or controller) replaced. They found nothing wrong and wanted me to believe it was normal behavior. I've got my own battery charger on it now to see if that makes the problem go away and I'm awaiting a return call from the service adviser

You will get better response if you post this as a new thread, not related to this one.

We will miss you Deda, because once you will have your car, you won't have the time anymore to post messages..

Don't be surprised if your consumption during the first 3.000 km is above what you expected, it comes down slowly after the first 2.000 km...

Do not know what happens after 3.000 kms, time will tell.

Anyway diesel is getting cheaper by the day, so why care..
