DPC almost killed me today!!!

Basically it was all my fault but I had to blame it on someone or something
Well here's the scenario :

I was on my way home waiting for the light to turn green to make a U-turn when I felt the urge to press (and hold ) the DSC button and that's exactly what I did . Sooooo, the light turned green and I made a slight left turn then stumped the pedal and the car went side ways. Ok so till now all was good and it felt almost the same as when I only press the button ... suddenly and I mean SUDDENLY the car went from one side of the road to the other and once I tried to counter steer it went to the other side this happened three times and thank god no other cars where any where close to me or else it would have been a sad scene. It was kinda fun to be honest and it exactly looked like this >>> gave me a good laugh for a min there.

So what am trying to say is ... yes PDC does kick-in but only if you truly push it to the limits, and I believe I did

Not saying that I won't try it again but next time it's gotta be on a private road and on cam

drive safe guys

X5/X6 = 5,000 lb truck

X5/X6 with DPC OFF = Chevy Suburban on roller skates.

it felt more like a roller coaster ride gone wrong :P

You should learn how to control oversteer. If the back steps out lift off the throttle.

I think that is what you would do in a normal car. I would imagine with DPC, just keep the throttle still and the DPC will adjust the power ratio between the wheels to restore balance.

true, it actually does correct it's self but the idea here is to trust the car to correct it's self even though all systems are off except DPC ... and thats exactly what i didn't do ... next time i'll let it do all the work and just enjoy the ride

ok your post says "dpc almost killed you" because you turned dsc off then turn pdc back on. dsc is controlled by a button but not related to pdc which is also controlled by a button but only to turn warning off and on , nothing to do with handling. dpc doesn't have a button. I think you should try this again at about 100mph. At least then I would get some useful information on how the car crashes.

I don't remember saying that I turned PDC off or anything like that ... all I said was that once the DSC and DTC are totally off the car still has some kind of control - which I wasn't really expecting - through DPC which can't be turned off by pressing a button

so when you think you're all alone and just then ... DPC kicks in and thats not really what I want when am going side ways intentionally

Ok I guess you original post appears different to you than me
all I see is DPC,DSC,PDC with DPC being the one that almost killed you. I'm an engineer so I always looks at the specs not the narative.

I think he meant to say DPC and not PDC as he stated in his original post

A simple typo, but with all the similar sounding acronyms, it's easy to see why... I think the adrenalin was probably still pumping through his veins when he was typing the message ...

I am sure he wouldn't mind as long as you are in the passenger seat taking notes on some useful information.
